Yesterday, I was in a 2k room just watching for a few to pass time away. I seen a mod come in and talk to someone about some "bad news". This "bad news" turned into a ban for the player because in private he admitted to PGA. Well, here is my theory if this statement came from inside the k-realm I can understand the mods point of view and the ban should hold. If tho by chance it did not and came from a social networking site; the mod has no right to persuade the decision to make a ban on that player. What is your opinions about this issue? I am trying to stay as neutral as possible in this BUT would love to know what others think. Thanks, Mr. Barker

at 8:18 PM, Saturday July 7, 2012 CDT {{where everyone killed you because your scheme blew up in your face}} this exactly the attitude towards trying to win that is wrong with the current game atmosphere, being a manipulative or taking lots of risks (all or nothing) are exactly the play styles that are missing now and make the game bland. My favorite tables always involved someone to challenge me (like monte, chase, gurgi, or zoid) because they would know exactly what I'm up to when I truce my neighbors and they'd either being doing the exact same thing or vying for loyalty over chat. This is what we in the biz refer to as diplomacy and it's severely lacking in the game now, 5000 was once a bastion for this kind of play but these days those aren't too common. And even if people still did play 2k/5k the rules on banning are so obfuscated by poor precedents that players are afraid to make overt efforts at diplomacy now - rather resorting to 'cliques' as Sprint said. |

at 10:22 AM, Sunday July 8, 2012 EDT Agree with most comments. It's not much fun any more to play on the 2ks. People don't backstab there isn't any in game strategy any more.
At this point you sit in, and unless you have an outrageous start where you're obviously first - it's just a matter of trying to not annoy any person on your border unless you can totally wipe them out quickly. Even if you manage to pull this off there's likely to be a couple friends who will screw you over even if you do everything possible to try and not mess their games up. I'd much rather people didn't care much about friendships and did everything they could to get 1st every game - backstabs, counter truces etc etc. It's much more fun and challenging that way since you always have to be on your guard. Modding gameplay will not change people's behaviors so I kinda agree with Thrax and Jurg that there's basically no point any more to try. Just let different groups screw over the noobs and eventually that will be it. No one gets anything for winning here so who cares. Let it be an otf-fest, what difference does it make. |

at 7:29 PM, Sunday July 8, 2012 EDT I don't have an issue with the site being modded, infact I kind of wish it would be and 3/4 of the dumb shit that goes on during a month could be nipped in the bud. I just don't want someone to come in the end of the month and moderate completely different than the rest of the month had been. Moderate, do it fairly across the board, and start it at the beginning of the month, and don't let up.

at 8:27 PM, Sunday July 8, 2012 EDT kehoe i think that's a dying opinion - the mods have proven they can't be impartial, they're human after all (and that's why there's 9 SCOTUS Justices) and to force them assess each situation on their own is not only unfair to them but unfair to the other parties involved. Even if mods used a secret tribunal forum for controversial issues (and even if more than 2 were ever active at a time) they're still controversial and as such shouldn't be their domain or particular job. That's why the police aren't in the business of deciding what's constitutional and we have a judicial branch in most of our governments, local and up.
I agree with bcmatt and the others who have said we should just revert to pre KDICEMOD and pre FIERO600 and let the game play out. To your credit though, if - hypothetically - a moderation team could be consistent and rules were clear (and properly delineated in the forums and articles cited during bans) through out a month I think a lot less people would have a problem. But that's a pipe dream and frankly probably not even the best solution (team games and anonymous ladders would be the best solutions). |

at 6:01 AM, Monday July 9, 2012 EDT KDICEMOD arose because of teamplay...duh. The "Justice League" was out of control and, well, you know the rest of the history. Teamplay is an absolutely fucking awesome idea if the site were coded to utilize it, but it isn't. Without it, not only is teamplay a bad idea, but it's detrimental to the 60%+ of the site that wants nothing to do with team play, period.
