The point is you should be consistent, especially when an "ambassador of the game" makes similar derogatory comments. Sam should be held to higher standards as a moderator, even though, given the circumstances, he would most likely have received a -chat by now. |

Wasn't bcmatt part of Sam's cheating crew? |

And yes skrum, I mean it's taboo in a deragatory form only. |

at 11:39 AM, Friday October 14, 2011 EDT Veta, what are you attempting to accomplish? Moderation is not black and white. The rules are not black and white. Simple words require context and settings to understand what was meant and whether malice was intended.
Have you noticed how most of the people in this thread completely disagree with you? Shouldn't that be an indication that you are most likely wrong? |

at 11:42 AM, Friday October 14, 2011 EDT So it's not okay to use the N word around black people playing this game (given we're all anonymous anyway) but it is okay to use derogatory terms against the mentally handicapped as if their loved one's who do play this game wouldn't be offended?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T549VoLca_Q Sam needs to learn tact, and I would appreciate if he ended this discussion with an apology - like he should have 30 posts ago. |

On an interesting side note, my wife used the expression 'that's like the pot calling the kettle black' at one point when teaching a lesson in school. The middle schoolers had never heard it before and thought she was being racist. |

at 11:47 AM, Friday October 14, 2011 EDT Oh and I notice you ban for "faggot" too. Or at least most moderators do, when the offended is actually a homosexual. This is a similar example no? It's not adding up to me Rob. Either Sam is benefiting from some bias and not being reprimanded because the rest of the moderators are hypocrites or suddenly it became okay to use slurs consistently and constantly.
Someone who drops "faggot" or "nigger" occasionally I can understand letting slide. But someone who consistently uses derogatory terms or tempers words with derogatory terms (see: friendgot) at some point needs to be told this is unacceptable and, especially when this person is supposed to be a leader among the community. Sam is held to a higher standard which is one of the reasons this is an even more grievous offense than if say Jona or Monte did the same. Although I'm sure someone would've banned Jona by now for using similar language. |
