im confused.
in the midst of mad cramming for my boards this week, i left my wallet+keys+cell in a bathroom stall when i was changing into work clothes. yes, im an idiot like that. anyways, closely monitored amex and visa accts online, zero transactions since i lost my wallet. closely monitored verizonwireless, zero activity since i lost it. so i assumed that a good person must have found them and turned them into lost+found. checked with the lost+found office this morning: nada. checked with all the local security, no one knew of a wallet+keys+cell being turned in. so why would someone find my stuff, take it, but then not use it? theories? btw, im going through with cancelling all cards and getting replacement phone and other important stuff. so annoying. |

What "most people" would or wouldn't do doesn't excuse pathetic behavior - yours or anyone else's. |

at 8:13 PM, Wednesday August 31, 2011 EDT why not just fucking google/facebook the person?? i found a girl's purse at a bar 2 weeks ago, all CCs and cash gone but still all of her IDs. gave it to the bartenders and sent her a fb message-- only girl with that name in the area and her fb picture matched her license.
not even a fucking "ty" message back. 2 fucking letters to show that she at least appreciated not having to get a new license/student ID/subway card. |

at 10:23 PM, Wednesday August 31, 2011 EDT actually yodel, upon finding the wallet, it became either lost or mislaid or abandoned property...most likely lost since it's clearly not purposefully abandoned and highly unlikely that someone intentionally put their wallet on the ground in the bathroom... and so the property actually becomes mine until reclaimed by the true owner...
you could file this on an identity theft angle since a credit card isn't real property... of course i could say that I assumed consent for gas although not implied because the true owner would like his property returned and I need gas to drive to the post office... he would have to actually spend $60 dollars to subpoena me to court and then find a judge that is actually willing to take a case over $25... not to mention the fact that he had my address and name and would have just sent him the $25 back if he actually asked... and yeah... you have to show a judge that you attempted to mitigate losses and not waste the time in small claims court and i'm not stupid enough to not give him the money if he asked... so actually the answer is.. yes Yodel, I am exempt from theft. |
