im confused.

in the midst of mad cramming for my boards this week, i left my wallet+keys+cell in a bathroom stall when i was changing into work clothes. yes, im an idiot like that.

anyways, closely monitored amex and visa accts online, zero transactions since i lost my wallet. closely monitored verizonwireless, zero activity since i lost it. so i assumed that a good person must have found them and turned them into lost+found. checked with the lost+found office this morning: nada. checked with all the local security, no one knew of a wallet+keys+cell being turned in.

so why would someone find my stuff, take it, but then not use it? theories?

btw, im going through with cancelling all cards and getting replacement phone and other important stuff. so annoying.

No you just said a bunch of shit that didn't justify the fact that you stole.

You literally charged someone else for filling up your car on a credit card. You didn't ask or have ANY explicit permission from that person to gas up your car. Therefore it's theft. Really go call the cops and tell them what you did and ask them if they wanna arrest you. If you dare. :)

lol, it doesn't work like that. They would call the person i 'stole' from and ask them if they want to press charges. They say 'no', and then nothing happens. This is why you aren't an attorney, this isn't a police state.

jesse, despite all the technicalities that support you legally... that still doesnt avoid the truth that taking gas money is a scumbag move. i always thought you tried to present yourself as a southern gentleman, at least to the ladies. no southern gentleman would ever do anything but go out of his way to return the wallet free of charge, without an ounce of finguilt attached to the good-samaritan act.

He's acting like a sleazy lawyer by making it sound like it's OK to do shitty things as long as he can't get caught within the letter of the law.

Why would you guys think he has more integrity than that?

As someone who recently had identity theft and got jacked for $800, I have quite a bit of disdain towards Jesse's "view" on this subject. It doesn't matter that I got my money back. What matters is that some douchebag took my cash to use for himself without my permission. Whether it's $25, $800, or $1 million, it's still stealing. The fact that Jesse tries to justify his action just proves that he has no moral compass.

He has a bright future as an ambulance chaser.

Am I wrong or a cards property of the banks that issue them? Use of card by a person that is not the holder of the credit agreement with the bank is a crime? I don't think any court would support the argument that illegal use of the card to buy gas to return the card was ok. How were you planning to pay for the gas before you found the card?
