This is dedicated to all you self proclaimed conscientious patriots, We want to get this straight.

You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.

You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy.

You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed.

You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.

You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.

You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war.

You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the Abu Grahib photos.

You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people.

You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.

You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden.

You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.

You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city drown.

You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark.

You finally got mad when.. when… wait for it… when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all ok with you but helping other Americans… well fuck that. That about right? You know it is.

You people have all lost your fucking minds. You are selfish, greedy, obnoxious, narcissistic, and frankly… stupid. Your pathetic little misspelled protest signs are embarrassing. Maybe you ought to find the smart person in your midst and let them make up all the signs, cause man, you look like a bunch of idiots. Also you’re ugly and your mother dresses you funny.

No skrum I am saying without any regulations healthcare would not be a free market. You are not understanding.

BO is half right; yes the current market isn't free; I propose that the market should be made free. Get government out of it and the price of health care will go down.

And Mrk; government provided health care is not cheaper. Going through a middle man; especially a government official is not cheaper or more efficient; this is just common sense.

Another example of a market that isn't free is utilities markets. Usually there is one provider of water or other such utilities. In Europe most cell phone towers are publicly owned or co-owned. These are examples of markets that aren't free. The justification is simple, it would be impossible for utilities companies to practically compete with eachother. As such they are given local monopolies and regulated.

Healthcare is another industry that practically could not be operate as a free market.

No dead you do not understand. Healthcare, in general does not follow the model of a free market. It cannot practically be a free market. Just like railroads and utilities cannot operate as free markets.

Elective surgery on the otherhand DOES follow the model of a free market. Which is why its costs go down and its quality of service rises over time.

Dead insurance is a middleman, if the government ran the health industry it would be far cheaper. Just look at any god damn other health system that is universal. It's cheaper than ours. In fact EVERY system is cheaper than ours. We spend the most per capita. Our system however is really really shitty, especially for what we pay.

Look at this motherfucking link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHO%27s_ranking_of_health_care_systems

I've linked it like 30 times on this site when we discuss healthcare. It's irrefutable.

give people healthcare, but cut something else to eliminate the up front costs. just balance the damn budget.

in the long term obamacare should decrease healthcare costs.

how about rewarding preventative care? im worried that this will ultimately penalize people who dont want to quit smoking, etc. insurance cos will reward people for being healthy with lower premiums.

i do agree that the US should offer some sort of baseline healthcare for all its citizens.

also if all the uninsured are covered in the future shouldnt this drive premiums down since hospitals will not have to cover losses for the uninsured?

Im conservative but i also have a heart about my fellow humans

BO; you need to investigate your premises a bit better. Elective surgery is a perfect example of what the utilities and health care industry could be like if it was not controlled by the government and it's cronies.
