when people tell me "I'm a republican"...in my mind it registers "I'm ignorant"

I think it's interesting that I assign certain qualities to republicans unintentionally
is that normal?

Oh c'mon Thrax. We've all seen you post; we know you are smart. You grasp of politics is easily strong enough to know your last statement is rhetorical nonsense.

Obama losing support from the center is rhetoric?

Why is it that anytime a Republican makes a statement it's rhetoric, but when a democrat makes a statement it's smart, or witty?

This one is for monte:

If you really want to be amazed check out the history of the usage of the Filibuster and Budget Consolidation. Then go complain some more about back-room tactics of Obama policies.

Sorry Thrax, but I would say the same thing to democrats who made similar statements about Bush when is approval ratings dropped down into the 20s.

lol i know what a filibuster is. but i also know that the republicans didnt drop to that level very often during those 2 years because there was a significant number of democrats who disagreed with obamas agenda. i admit the republicans were the obv opponents to his agenda, but there were always enough dissident democrats to keep him from running everything through easily. or anything through for that matter.

They disagreed with Obama not because of ideals, but because of corporate interest. He said himself a couple days ago, "reps using a possible shut down as a gun to the people's head". Usually Obama is laid back, obviously losing his patient with a lurid statement like that.

Just see where the money goes and it all makes sense why certain people choose to make certain decision in congress.

Besides, Obama is President, a President isn't suppose to "lead" the whole nation like a king, he has other obligations which are well seen in the constitution.

Its congress that needs to get shit done. And the people who we have elect that are failing us, not necessarily Obama.

Sorry I wasn't more specific monte:

Threat of cloture vote or silent hold has the same effect also and those aren't even kept track of. There's a graph of the votes filed...that's just the official ones.

The people elect Congressmen/women, and Congress answers to the President. Our current President has been uttlerly unable to get THE MAJORITY he had in both houses to pass his agenda as he would have liked. He couldn't even keep his own party in line.

THAT is a lack of leadership. Great leaders convince people to agree with them, and follow them. Obama hasn't had that since the first few months following his inaugration. It is the lack of leadership in the Oval Office that is hurting our recovery right now. The fact the he is trying to negotiate and cut deals is proof that he's waking up from his fantasy that he can do whatever he wants with unwavering support. He never acheived that type of support.
