when people tell me "I'm a republican"...in my mind it registers "I'm ignorant"
I think it's interesting that I assign certain qualities to republicans unintentionally is that normal? |

at 12:12 PM, Thursday July 7, 2011 EDT Congress does not answer to the President, for fucks sake that is the entire purpose of separation of powers. Jesus Rob get your head out of your ass about this, Obama may not be the best leader but his failures in leadership had very little to do with the fact that both idealouges on the left and right had no intention of ever coming to any type of intelligent compromise that would have helped the nation as a whole.

ideally. much more easy to believe that they answer to whoever lines their pockets. |

at 12:16 PM, Thursday July 7, 2011 EDT Sue me for wording it incorrectly. Congress must be convinced by the President that the agenda he wants to set forth is the right one. Since Congress votes on these bills they in essence ANSWER the President's call with a vote of yes or no.
Better? |

then almost every president we've had, failed as a leader btw i can't believe this is almost a 100 thread now i seriously believe you can mention anything about politics and it will turn to a 100plus thread *back to the topic at hand* don't get me wrong, in many ways I do believe that Obama has failed as a leader...but, this particular statement stuck out to me bc it really doesn't indicate anything deadcode and i talked about politics for like 2.5 hrs last night and he mentioned something that's applicable here he basically implied that sometimes a leader goes against the grain and what's popular in order to do what he thinks is the best thing to do and that really is the essence of a "good leader" so, in many regards...i could care less about how popular Obama, or any other president, is. It's really irrelevant to how well they are governing the country. one should look at what he's actually doing and judge that exclusively without much outside influence, imo ofc |

at 12:22 PM, Thursday July 7, 2011 EDT That's fine and dandy Travis, but if he goes against the grain and pushes an unpopular agenda, and he can't convince enough Congressmen to vote yes to his agenda, then all his time and effort for doing good matters not.
