when people tell me "I'm a republican"...in my mind it registers "I'm ignorant"
I think it's interesting that I assign certain qualities to republicans unintentionally is that normal? |

at 3:57 AM, Friday July 8, 2011 EDT He is basically just quoting what 'trickle down' theory is about. I think it is safe to say that theory has failed. "Don't tax the rich, gives more job."
It was a decent speech at best, but what prevented it from being a great speech is the facts that he had purported, namely trickle down theory. And of course, no one likes taxes, but people should understand that it allows for a our livelihood, which I thought it was silly of him to mention that Floridian's hate taxes. They actually hate taxes so much they try to find loop holes, like created a "corporation" in there name to take advantage of the corporate tax loop holes for there personal items (I know people who do this). He is right to say that we need more jobs, but the government, I think, should interfere with in the most indirect way, by raising the standard of education (extermly high) and funding research for academics, which always seems to put out revenue and job creating booms (internet, human genome, etc...). Many business (facebook, kdicem, etc...) thrive and have created a vast industry because of this funding. I mean, with my funds for the NSF I will be able to do something that no company in the world would pay me to do and that will be of vital importance in the progress in human advancement (quantum computers = great for busting passwords and factoring, SUSY, new sources of energy, etc...). Besides, all you need is 75k/year to be happy, after that its all about becoming a self-actualized individual, more money doesn't necessarily make you happier after that point. I mean, we are all the fucking same, why can't we take care of one another. I know they are problems, but we need to stop cutting each others throat its a waste of a vast amount of potential, which we need to evolve as a species. SMH |
