Why the evolution of two sexes?
I know that it's arguably beneficial to have two sexes. But I still don't understand how/why sexual reproduction came about and why two sexes instead of three sexes or four |

at 2:42 PM, Wednesday May 4, 2011 EDT well i partially think that one sex had to evolve from the other
so who was first? maybe there were multiple sexes and over time they merge together and created two super sexes BO i've searched everywhere for the answers to these questions...I need your help. I promise if you find the answer, I'll provide the funds |

at 4:04 PM, Wednesday May 4, 2011 EDT found a good blog, but this seemed more fitting for thraxle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_of_sexual_reproduction
http://evolution-101.blogspot.com/2006/06/why-did-sex-evolve.html Basically vertebrates and other large organisms have much slower generations when compared to bacteria or other microscopic organisms. As such larger organisms compensate for the slower mutation through the horizontal exchange of genes (sex) |

yes ".....as not to go extinct." no " So why did that not evolve to us?" because being able to change sex makes evolution work slower, so no sex is slower than sex, which is slower than 2 sexes. " And how come we didnt keep the wings of the birds we evolved from?" we never evolved from birds, birds evolved about 55-70 million years ago, we split branches with them more than 220 million years ago. in fact there where monkes as early as 55 million years ago " i think we could of really used wings" would you rather have wings OR hands? I choose the hands. |
