If you play a level lower than you could actually play, I....

automatically lose respect for you. It proves how you have not understood the game, the risk involved, or game theory at large. When you sit at a 100 with 2000 points, I *know* you are a noob. When you play 500s with 25000 points, I *know* that you are a coward.

Especially if these pathetic losers start weak flagging in round 2 so they don't lose 0.1% of their score. Shame on you.

the fact that people use msn and twitter are the facts that i use to know people cheat, let me break this down for you, people using private chat to work together to win at kdice, and the theory behind this is that if you play 2000 and 5000 games you will automaticly lose, this is why i dont want limits to change

@Lager

Get rid of OTF/PGA at higher tables, then we will talk.

I agree with Yodel on this one... there's just no point to play if you know you're gonna get screwed eventually anyway, and I don't mean losing points - I mean having no pleasure from the game, anyone who ever got 3v1ed knows what kind of feelings that leaves.

good discussion here, too bad I missed half a day of it

@ Thrax (who wrote :Why would we lose players? Instead of one 5k, one 2k, four 500's, and eight 100's running on the 20th of the month, we'll instead have two 5k's, three 2k's, six 500's, and a shitload of 100's with few 0 tables running.)

you are absolutely right that the higher tablew would get a lot more playtime because people were forced to play them faster. I just think there is a risk for losing extra players because people will get demotivated for not being able to slowly gain points.

I agree that people only playing 500s to end up 20-30k is a bit lame but now a lot of these people will get to the limit to be forced to play 2k and loose again, win some again on 500, lose at 2k again. Some will make it to the 5k limit but they will also plateau around that limit.

for a game to be addicting enough there needs to be a (point) reward for playing. People that just end up losing what they won on the table limit under it will get demotivated in my opinion

this system will also be a bit the same as the ELO table limits (taking some effort to make the next limit)

I still want to try this drastic system, just explaining why I think we might loose some discontent or demotivated players.

Maybe we will loose some but on the other hand, maybe we will force some to become more experienced and better equipped for 2k 5k too so the Kdice competition will only benefit.

Cliffnotes: screw the few dropouts, I still wanna try it

Jurgen, I'd probably cheat the system the same way tops abuse it as well - through alts. It's been common knowledge by now that quite a few people use alts to avoid the limits of tourneys (kinds sad tho, seen final tables of freerolls ending up as OTF as 2ks/5ks), so why not do the same to avoid table limits? Hit the limit, switch the acc, enjoy the game.

For those competitive types, it's easy to funnel points from the alts later anyway. So... can't say it'd work well.

PS. Ryan changing anything now is about as likely as pigs growing wings and flying around, so this is purely theoretical.

every system has it's new ways of trying to beat it but bottom line for this proposed system: if you want to gain points on your main, you'll be forced to earn the points on the higher limit

you are right that plenty of people play alts to play a few extra games or tournies

@reminder, just wondering what is wrong with playing alts at lower tables or in tourneys. I have over 10k and am not a member, so that means i can play 3 tourneys a week. I see nothing wrong playing with an alt for fun in the tourneys, especially if it helps fill them up.

I agree up to the point of 2000 and 5000 tables. I find that the players that sit in on those tables almost all know each other, and even if they aren't full out pga, they would rather take out the new guy than their friend.
