There is a real need for honest, fair mods and sooner rather than later...

While I understand your reasoning, I still disagree with you CD. I've been banned before. Wrongfully. I was banned for 16 minutes. I got on an alt and explained to quickcut what was going on and that I was NOT cheating but she was prideful and listed my unban as a "second chance" and not as her mistake. Should this put me out of the running to become a mod? I don't think so. I don't think anyone with a similar story should be eliminated or not considered for modship. Sam was banned by Jesse and we all know how that worked out.

I also don't think 'not being around much' should be a stipulation. A good new mod who has a little time to spare is better than no additional help for the mods. Certainly someone who isn't aware of general gameplay etc should not be a mod, but someone who has been playing for a while and has that awareness should not be eliminated just because they'll only be able to ban five people in a week instead of ten. Any additional help to pick up the slack for the current mods, I think, would be useful.

That being said, I agree that dice needs more (active) mods. However this has to be under the condition that they can work together. The biggest problem with modding on this site historically is mods disagreeing with each other. That problem is obviously fixed now (no one is undoing anyone else's bans) but I'm concerned that having too many mods will mess that up again. Also, mods need to be people with relatively thick skin. They get a lot of shit from the general populace whether or not they do a good job. Anonymous mod accounts would be great, but hard to maintain.

I personally think that before more mods are put in place, there needs to be a discussion about where the line is drawn in terms of OTF play. With the current state of the rules (or lack thereof) a new mod could have an extremely rocky start, simply because his or her opinion of some event differs from that of another mod. I don't think that simply instating more mods will help with the supposed problems at upper tables right now.

several points:

1) congrats wish on getting a 100-post thread. very original.

2) as long as you can trust them, then the more mods the better. if you want to enforce the trust, then ask Ryan to make thrax a supermod, who can overrule/admonish errant mods.

3) Shevar has also been banned by fiero. PGA's or any intent to help another player prior to a game is entirely unacceptable, Shev.

4) i dont understand why a lot of people are assuming that if we have too many mods, there will be MORE problems. weve made it through the bitchslap phase with gpokr/xsketch moronods, and there has been absolutely no conflict with nonkdice mods for like a year. pretty sure that phase is over. and when was the last time that kdice mods ruled/overruled each other? when??? ive never seen exclusive kdice mods get in pissing wars with each other. so why are yall assuming that new mods will desire to piss off old mods? it simply wont happen, especially when the new mods are made new mods ONLY BECAUSE YOU APPROVE OF THEM.

4b) also, with a mod forum, there is an available space for yall to discuss your bitches at each other, without letting the rest of us see there is an argument/discussion going on. you can keep up the appearance of solidarity, which is important. so fucking add more mods.

5) we need more mods because not every mod stays online consistently. well hell, not ANY mod stays online consistenly. BR was consistent... for like 2 months, until he blew his load. im sure he will come back eventually (and claim that same BS story, 'oh ive been lurking around all along as several supersecret alts, just no one realized'... right, BR, right). thrax was consistent for like a year (the standing record), but then disappeared for several months. why? CUS HE HAS A FRIGGIN LIFE. jurgs will be around for a few months at least, cus he doesnt have a wife/children (yet). my point is, we ALL go on kdice cycles, where we need time off to get away, and when kdice is refreshing again, and we throw a lot of time into it (and enjoyment). whether mod, or normal player, this pattern has held true for us all.

6) SO AS LONG AS YOU CAN TRUST THE PEOPLE YOU RECOMMEND, WE NEED AS MANY MODS AS WE CAN GET. OR AT LEAST SEVERAL MORE. CURRENTLY, WE HAVE 4 ACTIVE MODS (jurg, verm, sam, rowdy). OTHER MODS ARE ON SABBATICALS. WE NEED MORE MODS TILL WE HAVE MORE THAN 4 ACTIVE MODS PER MONTH. i say we need more like 10.

<--wife and kid

big part of the reason I quit KDice for 1,5 years was to enjoy the time with my kid and to help my wife get through the complicated pregnancy

but apart from that I agree with Monte, the more good and active mods who can work as a team, the better

I am not going to be able to keep watching the Central European office hours all the time so I would be happy to see another active mod for that time slot added

Why hasn't monte been made a mod yet by the way? I know he is a douche and all but he'd probably make a good mod if he wanted the job.

ok I was unaware that slew of folks have been banned in the past for bullshit or erroneous reasons. But a PGA ban or a blatant cheating ban needs to be a "no modding ever" thing imo.

As for anonymous mods being pointless I am curious to see why you say that. I think that as things sit if you get modded by someone you know you can cry to them or publicly make a nuisance of yourself. If it's anonymous then you just know that the mods are in agreement as a whole that you have f'd up somewhere. I fail to see the problem here. A modslap should be a punishment period. One should never feel "safe" from the mods because you are friends with them. That defeats the purpose imo.

As for me being a Mod if nominated I would do my best to serve but I fear I would screw up. lol

ps- Anyone else having problems with their comma's not working? How annoying.
