strange comments for the sake of appearing rational thrax

the protests on that day were peaceful, and the police were the one beating the hell out of us, making people angry and attacking back, the angry mobs as u call them were not targeting any foreigners that day "jan 28", and as the things get uglier the protesters were targeting the two things they hate, the national democratic party buildings and the police forces. i was in a neighbored of embassies, none were targeted, nor were any church attacked or anything else, photographers weren't having any trouble that day except with the police and tear gas, and you come back telling me, a guy in a car just got a panic attack and he hit people in the streets, "and people were in all the streets that day", so i suppose he hit more, all that just coz he couldn't just get himself into a place and sit there. knowing there were going to be protests literally everywhere in egypt in a end of the week day.

man, i've seen it, protesters were even making a pass for the cars to pass, the guy driving that embassy car was just ignorant or not a foreigner at all, don't blame the people and call them some "angry mobs".

point is: fucked up situation, hope it gets better soon.

it will be very interesting to see how the rest of the area reacts now that tunisia's and egypt's revolutions are underway

Again, my statement took no sides, nor did it condone any parties actions. I simply asked the question "What would you do if an angry mob of protesters were storming your car with the intention of killing you?"

I don't know who was in the car and I don't know who the protesters were. All I know is that in the first video nobody would have been hurt if the group of people didn't begin to converge on the vehicle and frighten/impose upon the driver. My stance on the subject is that I have no stance on the subject. My view was simply objective from the video I watched (mainly the first one).

I'm not trying to belittle your country/politics/leadership/people Mars. I wish you luck and hope everything returns to normal very soon. If my contribution to this thread was offending to anyone, that was not my intention. I thought my comments were fairly ambiguous, but apparantly they weren't. I apologize.

Thraxle, the protesters even cleared a path for the vehicle so it could pass. But it veered off the road as you can see just to kill and injure protesters. In another video something similar happens with a truck. Watch the rest on that link I sent you.

In the first video, if you pause it at :29 there are people being run over, standing left of the vehicle, and standing right of the vehicle. Once they hop the median if you pause it at :32 they are on the side of the street with far less people/obstructions. Had they chosen to stay left of the median, many more people would have been hit while they were trying to get away.

Did the driver panic and cause more harm then necessary? Sure. Was hitting 20 people better than hitting 50 or 60? Absolutely.

Thraxle go to 0:28 and pause it. Does it look like he's trying to avoid people or drive into the biggest crowd in his way? I'd wager you say the latter because that's what's actually going on.

Further more this is no isolated event, this is the policy that Mubarak has ordered, harsh violence in order to retain power.

Lastly, the guy murdered a few people and broke the bones of at least a dozen he didn't murder. Are you suggesting this guy shouldn't be tried to the fullest extent of the law? Such a monstrosity gets a pass by you, who I'd imagine is a conservative and a proponent of the death penalty? You wouldn't have this person executed?

What kind of delusions are you under that you think this is OKAY under ANY circumstances? I don't care if it's marshal law. Those people were no threat to his vehicle.

OH and I love the bullshit you were trying to sell about less people being in front of him after he charges the most crowded part of the sidewalk. Of course man of them moved into the middle of the road after they saw a car driving into them, so no shit. Seriously did you watch the video?

Watch it three times right now and tell me the guy wasn't intentionally harming people.
