Obama's speech (some random thoughts while watching it)

"I,in the rush to get things done, had to sign things that had earmarks in them"
..then he goes on to say more bullshit about how the public thinks he hasn't strayed away from that yet (implication that earmarking, etc is a product of Bush's administration). I really cant get over how the public's perception of Obama's administration thus far is still positive, despite the fact that he hasn't done anything he said he would do during his campaign. His platform was all rhetoric and he basically had no way of losing. First off, people subconsciously felt that they'd be acting in a racist manner if they didn't vote for him. I'm not agreeing with this logic, but I think it was definitely an issue. Secondly, the media blamed all of our country on Bush. In my opinion, Obama has fucked things up more so than Bush, and he didn't have to deal with any of the national crises that Bush did.

....

"There was a big deficit that i inherited, and it has grown due to the recession." I'm not even going to comment on this. His "investments" are wasteful spending. Ugh, im gonna puke.

The one thing he said that I agreed with was regarding research and development. He says that "clean energy could make all the difference in terms of job creation here at home." That is something that is true and as a country we need to take a huge step in developing green technology.

Ron, there's already a thread with that website as the name of the thread. And if I could "deficit spend" in my life I'd be accomplishing some shit too. I could pay off college. Buy and pay off a new house. Invest in my son's college fund. Employ a gardener, landscaper, maid, cook, butler. And it's great because I never have to pay the money back.

This sums up Obama's first 21 months.

Obama has the bad position of doing too little to appease the liberals and far too much to anger the conservatives. The truth is that we are more and more polarized and politics that were never pretty are devolving from uncivil to downright idiotic.

The problems today have NOTHING to do with Obama (well not nothing, but next to nothing). At the very most, the results of polcies the previous four years arent' even felt for the next four years.

On that note the pullout of Iraq had everything to do Bush and very little to do with Obama...desptie the fact that its not "really" a pull-out. Besides the Cash for Clunkers and the Healthcare program... I really wonder of a republican woudl be that much better. Bush passed the first TARP (bailout) before he left office.

I just am really skeptical that a bunch of tea party wackos are better than a bunch of bumbling democrats.
