I blame you Asti Spu Monte Carlo. Yes Count, you were the first, an innovator in the new school technique. Very effective in winning points, and even championships, but like the nose bridges for eye ware developed by Navin R Johnson, the long term effects were not known.
We now have a bunch of cross eyed players that have been staring at their nose bridges far too long. In fact, some have stared so hard, that their pupils are no longer visible and are actually looking inward, without introspection. Where have the Murti's, the Lagers, the Wishbones, he Bone Rollers gone? They have been replaced by the likes of Shadolin, Studious Gangster, and WarDog. Yes, the second generation of half breed that was first seen in Monte Wanna bees like leekstep and Pat Whalen. Yes, the game has evolved, like a mutant virus and nobody can find a cure. The manipulation of the flagging system, ie... the limp wristed vflag is almost assured by these type players in round 1 to each other. No silent truces where trust is key, and being able to see the boards silent truces through lack of an attack is needed. no simpleton play , where submission verbally in round 1 or 2 is used to get a better than deserved position. No skill, talent or desire to actually win involved. Is there an antidote to this disease that plagues kdice? Yes, I believe so. The tournys are awful, the flagging system rotten, the play style horrific. The answer, as I have been promoting for some time, team play. No flags, simply a winning and a losing team. No vflagging to the strongest player, just hope your teammate is. There can be some very strong teams. Think of Wishbone/Das/Sam/Kehoe or any three of four. Shev/Murti/Myself/Nexon Bonez/Rowdy/Thraxle/Monte Lager/Cody/Adam/Nix etc... Would love to see how the new schoolers would fare in a month of battles where there only is a first and last place in those matchups. my guess, not very well at all |

at 6:52 AM, Sunday January 18, 2009 EST The aim of the game (for most people) is to MAXIMIZE their position, remember there is only one first place.
What is wrong with deciding the positions of the board before everyone is eliminated? How is that some sort of weak play? Everyone is able to use the chatbox and the dice do not lie. It is fair for all. |

at 11:02 AM, Sunday January 18, 2009 EST Teams are a great idea, i think we all agree on that.
About the v-flags, i think this style of play came into fashion with the new scoring system. 7th loses a whole fucking lot of points, while 3rd an 2nd is rewarded quite well. No wonder people beg instead of rolling. I remember times where you could limit the losses caused by a bad start on a 2500 table to -600. Now with the progressive dom this is impossible. Taking risks (or simply rolling) must be rewarded in order to bring more action into games. For the tourneys we need better maps. Those randomized stuff just doesnt do a good job there especially when the maps get smaller. It should be that much of a deal to build some maps that dont look as rotten as the current ones. Derandomizing the initial setups is also worth a thought. I mean this shit is supposed to be about strategy. |

at 12:09 PM, Sunday January 18, 2009 EST In regard to the silent truce of not following if someone moves a big stack away from your border, the following verses of Scripture are relevant (if design govern in a thing so small):
Deuteronomy 25:16-18 (King James Version) 16For all that do such things, and all that do unrighteously, are an abomination unto the LORD thy God. 17Remember what Amalek did unto thee by the way, when ye were come forth out of Egypt; 18How he met thee by the way, and smote the hindmost of thee, even all that were feeble behind thee, when thou wast faint and weary; and he feared not God. |

at 1:20 PM, Sunday January 18, 2009 EST But Skrum we were just following the golden rule.
Mathew 7:12 (King James Version) "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." I moved away and did not attack the player because it was my wish that he moved away and did not attack me :D. |

at 6:03 AM, Monday January 19, 2009 EST Do not forget that you are an extremely greedy points whore, who kills flagged players with many points and lets unflagged players with only one land alive.
It's even worse that you perma 2vs1d me with another player in 5 conscutive games and didn'T allow me to fight for 2nd when I asked you. I had bad starts and was naive enough to trust you, because I thought you were a trustworthy player. Apparently you are not anymore. |
