at 2:27 PM, Tuesday June 17, 2008 EDT while this post is good and thought provoking I think you've missed the general consensus of how players feel about other players. As a player dan, you haven't played more than a handful of games with many of the names that you've listed, especially stoude. Few of the comments here really are pertinent as many of you only know these players based on the leaderboard, forum, and klore.
riser, is a cheater, and in the worst kind of way, he is not good at kdice. He is a talented proxier. end of story. Luck is a great player, his ability to read the board before other's moves are what provoked me to change my playing style early on. rnd, also a cheater, but not like riser, he could actually also play when he sat down by himself, and earned a reputation. Still proxied in elo days, but can read the board and win. and adam you used AIm more than steve jobs promotes apple. mikeypoo, known proxyier as well. The month he won has been agreed amongst regulars to be the weakest month of all time. The kdice beta was being tested, and you will see a drop in games played among the then, top 10. So not to discredit the win, but it certainly falls under the category of pertinent. integral, one of my favorite players of all time. Plays well all the time, can't say anything bad about him. He might top my list. stoude, bmd, i don't think you ever played a game with stoude in his career. Everything you have him on this list here for you is hearsay. I think he was an alright player, but i don't think the current system would be advantageous to him. He used to flag with very few territories, remember when he was around a flag only meant give up, not grey out, or with a place on it. He used to do it with very few terrs, in the back and then build, and attack to gain position. So under the current system he'd be flagging for 5th place, A LOT. Cleo, a ridiculously good player, who was social and had many, many, many friends on the tables. She used to be able to get away with anything, 1)bc she's a woman 2)good player 3)had friends. She could have 1 terr, and command nexon of nuflis to get her 2nd. Comik, good. all around, but erratic and never has the attention span to finish a month. So, i don't think he would do well seeing as the competitions are now marathons, and not sprints. Grunvagr, he's a mod, which rhymes with god. Good kplayer, crazy, but solid. If i had to revamp your list based on a slightly biased perspective and also one that goes back a very long time. The top 10 would include, but maybe not in this order. cleopatra integral vermont petomni montecarlo dasfury rnd vohaul MadWilly ________________ <--- fill your own in here, so i can't be 100% wrong. anyways, this is just some opinions, you might and or might not agree, that's fine. This is how it be to me. PZ Forum Allstar. |

Das, of course would be up there, as would be up there XC, phoenix, wishbone, monte or Zosod. Great players, fear them at the tables because they can surprise you. P.S.: Cleo, command me to get you 2nd whenever you want. Always a pleasure. |

at 4:39 PM, Tuesday June 17, 2008 EDT Just so you know this list of players i said werent players i thought would be up there they were merely examples of players i know USED to play alot and were good and i was asking for a general consensus as to how people thought kdice would look if they had carried on playing.
Obviously people like Das, wish, monte, verm, nuf, vohaul, pet are all up there but i was trying to find out what people thought kdice would b like if the others not all of which are people i know had stuck around, and would like to hear which players other people would like to have seen stay. i know i would like to see alot of these players i never got to see play as i have heard so much about them....although the new skool is pretty exciting too! |

at 8:34 PM, Tuesday June 17, 2008 EDT I'm given altogether way too much credit. I think the fact many of you like me for the entertainment value I bring to the game is the real reason you continually mention me as months pass.
The fact is this: I won a month when the scoring system was vastly different from how it is today. It did not require continued, sustained solid play but rather spikes in scores. It was way more important to be able to string 40 games in a row of top 3 finishes than it was to sustain 300+ games of sustained play. A hot streak was sufficient to take someone to #1. With the elo system then, the best players hovered in the 1900, 2000,2100, 2200 tables and yes, it required skill to arrive to those tables - but not that much. So really, all I did was play a lot (800 some games) and I got on two lucky streaks in the month where for 20 game bursts I went to probably 19 top 3 finishes with 10 1sts. Then i'd have a bunch of 7ths and fall to the wayside again but the points accumulated were vast in the burst. It was a month of spike-play and I'm as much of a smokinghot / ice cold player as there is. It suited me. My glory days are over. Now, who are the best players? This is easy. I've seen many come and go but this is a list of people that were just phenomenal. And the great thing about this list is that these players didnt play with the same crowd - they could and did sit with random strangers often and won because of tactics and intelligent maneuvering, from the chatbox to subterfuge. I will not rank them, but I would say, these would be in the top 10, and pending luck %'s one of them would be the best kdicer ever. Wicked! Spamite Bu rnd CoMiK petomni Tzisc (aka Rewind) MadWilly Ryan DonGaz (I'm not kissing up to Ryan - his statistics / Tapl / whatever you want to call it are extremely impressive). I wouldnt even crack the top 250 of alltime players if it were a scenario where everyone played x amount of the same games over x time. But this list is my honest opinion of who the very very best would be. This assumes no pga'ing and playing the game purely, the way it should be played! |

Great players who would succeed without their teams, not overly dependent on long term relationships: Dasfury XLUCKX Integral Ghostface Stoudemire BCMatteagles MadWilly XCRobin And the best of all time is yours truly: mihai777 and tajmtoedaj! |

at 3:43 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT thanks for ur input guys its a shame most of these people stopped playing.
Can anyone see a new player being able to dominate in the new school era (now) like say rnd did in the old school....me personally of everyone i know play this game there are 3 people where if they said i am gonna win this month they could do it.... montecarlo dasfury (if he could be bothered) integral (if he could play for more than a week without getting bored!) Madhat_Sam (would have a gold already if he had played more than 2 weeks lol) people who would get very close if they said they were gonna win it.... petomni (if das didnt shout kill pet in every one of his games) wishbone jPGA4p (if he played enough) leekstep (if he played under an alt cause everyone would pge him otherwise) yellowfin (the perenial under-achiever) |

at 3:08 PM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT BatmanDan,
PGEs are often helpful, they help you predict the board. It is a lot harder to play against long term friends who are secretly reluctant to attack each other. I think Leekstep would have a better chance than any alias. There is one guy I can never beat, and he has the power to take away 219,000pts from me for playing more fair than anyone in the top 10. The one guy I can never beat is Ryan, because he can just take his ball and go home. |

at 3:34 PM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT leekstep, I have seen a few amazing kdicers from the past come back now with a new alt and starting over with a clean slate. I respect that a lot.
I was wondering if you felt confident enough yet to reveal your new identity? |
