at 11:10 AM, Tuesday June 17, 2008 EDT among the elite (yes, im bringing that term back), riser gets no props. everyone considers him a cheating scumbag (he wouldnt sit at tables unless he had enough goons there to ensure that he would get at least a 3rd and maintain a high score for his elo. therefore he could sit a mere 60 games a month, get obscenely high 1st through 3rd percentages, and be top five month after month.
from my perspective, xluckx was the best at seeing into the future, i.e. red will connect there, then yellow will take it back, then blue will try to do this depending on yellows build... so i will take this piece and everyone will run away from me, and i will win. great prognosticator. then youve got comik and rnd, the two with the most charisma, as seen by how good all their followers were. arguably, comiks followers included xluckx, mikeypoo, leekstep, bahaduras, while rnds followers included integral, dasfury, wishbone, and me. so in any given game, they could tell us to act in a certain way, and there was a good chance we would follow what we tell them to do. so here is how i see a single game going down: riser wouldnt sit. xluckx would side with comik. integral would side with rnd. stoude would find a corner and sit still. grun would attack mostly everyone and become a large 3rd place. poo would suicide out with 2v3s and 3v5s for the lulz. poo gets 7th. rnd/int would be begging grun to join them. comik/xluckx would be doing the same. then everyone would realize that grun is just playing his own game, so they would change strategy and 4v1 grun. grun gets 6th. rnd/int would take risky rolls. int would lose all of his, rnd would win all of his. int gets 5th. comik/xluckx would start expanding into ints grey spots. rnd would finally lose a risky roll, and be headed for 4th until he pulls off a 8v8 7v8 6v8 1hit on stoude, stoude gets a hugely negative 4th. rnd gets a hugely positive 3rd. comik flags 2nd because hes just happy that he beat rnd, and wont care about points. comik gets 2nd. xluckx gets 1st. then xluckx quits the game again because it is too easy and not entertaining enough. until he breaks his other leg and is forced to come back to the community. |

at 11:15 AM, Tuesday June 17, 2008 EDT newer players who could keep up with the older players:
madhatsam (by definition, anyone 'new' is someone who came along after the old glory players mostly quit.) pat whalen (you have to be a big whiner to be able to keep up with us. this is why vermont could never quite keep up, because he had a bit too much integrity.) jpc4p (hes borderline new/old.) really, i dont know of anyone else who could do it. perhaps yellowfin. |

I especially like this part: "poo would suicide out with 2v3s and 3v5s for the lulz. poo gets 7th" and it should continue like this: "then he would copy the chat to edit some key lines before posting it in a hilarious thread in the forum, a thread that he would bump with seven alts creating a crazy dialogue". Damn, I really miss Mikey. |

riser--30 games 54,000 scaled points that places him 4th generally for newer months. placing him ahead of nexon with 430 games. riser blows. |

I have never seen chris whine, so he is not the new Verm, plus like the old Verm pointed out hard to be the new when the old is still around. Old-School pre-march 07 KindaOld-Scho0l pre-sept 07 New-School jan 08 and beyond. New school rules now, give them some time and you will see them climb the leader board as some of the top 10 are slowing down in how much they play. If Ryan reworks it that could really shake things up as well. Pure amass of points is a decent marker of skill but lacking when you start to consider the time differences between some. I like this thread, interesting and thought provoking. Any old school player would have trouble keeping pace if they only played their own game as you can see with Grun. Kdice is more about be willing to compromise then crush your opponents, which is sad. CoMik or rnd really could dominate if they wanted to or could play a couple hundred games a month. The new school is very open to being manipulated, and those two know how to do that very well. Stoude probaly would score well based on how the game works now. |
