Thoughts on new kdice

Lets discuss the new kdice version.
I'll try to get it out for Jan 1 with some changes: - the look will be closer to the current kdice. - the chat box will be put back to normal. I'm hoping to leave the flagging change in since it helps solve the problem with the last player not wanting to flag (this happens because last knows that others can flag for last and waits for that). The flagging is more like the old flagging but without the ninja flag problem. The strategy with the new flagging is that you can flag to single to a stronger player that you're not a threat. You're flagged at your current position, for example 2nd, and you can't place better. You'll be automatically knocked out when in this case there are only 2 players left. This also means the player in 3rd knows that you can't flag for third and will more likely opt to flag. Consequently, the player in first will attack 3rd knowing that 2nd isn't a threat. And since point farming is gone there is no motivation to attack second. Thoughts? |

at 2:04 PM, Thursday December 20, 2007 EST Thanx Ryan - I was lucky to see the new version for probably 12 minutes on Dec. 1, and it looked pretty good. Couldn't figure everything out, tho, but the new flagging systems seems to be definitely worth trying!
Also, I agree with integral that the table naming should be sorted out. Today I had the honor to play at britney666 table - even tho the name might be funny (or not), I don't think there should be any such table. britney666 has never played a game, let alone won one or even donated. Please, having a table named after somebody should be an honor, imho. One thought about the 'new' version: All the points in the system come indirectly from the 0 point noobs who will probably never make it to a 200 table. So it seems that whatever your playing level, you can probably win more by taking the points as directly as possible from the noobs - that is: from a 10 table (unless you're really good and can keep a 25% wins ratio at a 1000 table). Not sure how to fix this, but it seems like an incentive to play lower tables ... |

at 2:14 PM, Thursday December 20, 2007 EST pretty sure table maxs would fix that problem syp, and also get more people to play higher tables (diluting the 1ks so there's not as much inbreeding, if you will).

at 6:02 PM, Thursday December 20, 2007 EST The new flagging system seems to make a lot of sense. Just curious about a particular scenario. Lets say there are 3 players left. The player in 2nd flags for 2nd. The player in 3rd says "hey player in 2nd, don't you want 1st?, help me kill player in 1st and you get 1st instead" Then together player in 2nd and player in 3rd kill off every territory of player that was in 1st. Does the guy who flagged for 2nd become 1st?

at 6:29 PM, Thursday December 20, 2007 EST First of all the 2nd player flagging is telling 1st place he doesn't want 1st... so if this player changes his mind he's stuck with this second flag. This gives 1st more confidence in the flag. Once first would be knocked out 2nd would be knocked out even if 2nd had more area.
But there is a way to make this work, it's just tricky. The guy in third would also have to flag for second... so the two are both flagged for second. Once the old 1st place player is knocked out the other two are also knocked out with the player having the most area in first. |

at 2:59 AM, Friday December 21, 2007 EST sadly i never got to play the new system when it was momentarily put in2 place Dec but have heard nothing but great things about it!
but i'd like to ask something, just to clear it up in my head...im still a little confused after reading these posts... lets say, there are 3 players left with 17, 9 and 4 lands. the guy currently in 2nd is stuck in the middle and is being attacked by 1st and 3rd. he tries to take out 3rd but can see hes fighting a losing battle due to 1st being up his ass, so he flags in 2nd. can 3rd then persist to attack him and take his 2nd? awe |

if you think reporting PGAs, point famers, spammers, or cheaters in general is abuse, then may be i should be on that list together with lesplaydices, 119Legend, Dicelord, idice, kdicetool, rnd......and the list goes on and on...... i ahd the chance to see the new version for about 10 minutes and these are the things i like: -the new personal stats page....with daily and monthly stats......do we have overall stats as well? -the measure of your luckiness -new forum - where all the old entries are there i really think that we should have a rules page.......take a look at some of the more established forum, they all have rules with something like "personal atacks and abuses are not tolerated....." a good example would be FORT (http://www.fansofrealitytv.com/forums/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_board_rules) |
