at 7:37 AM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST The average BCS ranking of FSU's opponents including Florida next weekend is 71.5 and that's if I'm being nice by ranking their TWO FCS opponents 125th (one more than the number of FBS schools).
Murray State - FCS Savannah State - FCS Wake Forest - 71st Clemson - 11th South Florida - 83rd NC State (loss) - 66th Boston College - 103rd Miami - 55th Duke - 60th Va Tech - 69th Maryland - 86th Florida - 4th (yet to play) You only have one win inside the top 50 and a loss to #66. It's not FSU's fault that the ACC sucks so bad, but the BCS computers will not respect a schedule like that. |

at 7:44 AM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST Compare that with someone like Notre Dame (who really never plays an FCS school) and it looks something like this:
Navy - 57th Purdue - 64th Michigan State - 50th Michigan - 19th Miami - 55th Stanford - 8th BYU - 55th (tied with Miami) Oklahoma - 13th Pittsburgh - 80th Boston College - 103rd Wake Forest - 71st USC - 29th That averages to 50.3 per opponent. I used Notre Dame as an example since they share quite a few opponents, but Notre Dames "out of conference schedule" is much, much stronger. Bottom line is to stop playing cupcake in September and the computers will respect you more. |

at 11:02 AM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST Yeah that's actually not FSU's fault. FSU had WVU scheduled in the 2nd week and WVU pulled out because of their move to the Big XII. Now obviously WVU has fallen off a cliff faster than Wile E. Coyote but they're by no means an FCS team. Again, no one's to blame but FSU themselves. Sure, the schedule's weak, but minus that pathetic loss to NCSU, my Noles would definitely be looking at a shot at the NCG. FSU has a habitual problem of playing to their opponents (down or up), but they've generally blown out the teams they're supposed to blow out. Hell, FSU had a lot of 2nd stringers in by the start of the 2nd half against BC, whereas against Notre Dame, BC was into the game well into the 3rd quarter. I'm not particularly a fan of using the transitive property in football, but you've gotta be out of your mind to think that FSU isn't underranked. I wouldn't advocate putting them in the Top 5 just yet, but I could see a Top 5 finish depending on how the UF game goes (fuck every gator) and if FSU gets to/wins the Orange Bowl.

at 11:11 AM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST Didn't mean to imply that you're out of your mind or that you suggested FSU wasn't underranked, since you didn't even talk about it, by the way. Bad wording on my part.

at 11:14 AM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST Also lol @ Maryland and Rutgers going to the Big 10. Worst BCS conference in the country making itself actively worse. Too bad the ACC bent over for Notre Dame and let them retain their football independence. FSU should totally get the hell out of the ACC and throw its panties at the Big XII or SEC. FSU is totally an SEC team but UF would never allow it.

at 12:13 PM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST FSU with their lone loss being to Florida = top 5 in the BCS.
FSU with their lone loss being to NC State = where we are today. Do I think they're better than their ranking? Probably. But they haven't played a schedule that tests that theory. I know that isn't their fault, but it remains a fact. |

at 12:32 PM, Monday November 19, 2012 EST I didn't brag about FSU at all, in fact if you want to get right down to it, I'm pretty negative about FSU overall. You have to be if you're an FSU fan who's experienced the past decade and has half a brain.
That being said though, UVA fans would suck dick to get to where FSU was at during Bowden's last days. FSU's won two national championships and 12, maybe 13, conference championships in only 20 years of ACC play. UVA has been in the ACC for 50 years and won 2 conference championships, the last one way back in 1995. Even if I WAS bragging about FSU and ragging on UVA, that's still pretty fucking fair considering the two programs are on completely different levels, even at FSU's worst. |
