I'm glad Zimmerman was released on Bond. He turned himself in voluntarily the first time instead of running away, supporting that he isn't a flight risk. Just because there's high media coverage and outrage on something doesn't mean someone is necessarily guilty of what they're charged. Maybe he's guilty, and the trial will determine it, but I'm glad to see constitutional rights being protected. #MERICA!!!!!!

I don't even have to read this thread to know that my comments are probably warranted. |

i think travis that you are more ignorant for jumping to media driven conclusions, rather than letting justice play out, you, travis, are everything that is wrong with modern american society. |

I am guessing that it was probably not racially motivated in the sense that, "oh, there is a black kid, I hate black people, they are unamerican, I'll go harrass him" I am guessing he was doing profiling. To bad the man probably have a very twisted view of reality. If he had the wrong "facts", then he would naturally land on the wrong decision. This seems to me to be a problem with xenophobia rather than a problem with racism (in a very strict definition of what the word "racist" means) For me (even tho I have no way of knowing), this seems to be a symptom of a deeper lack of trust in the american society. This exact type of crime has a much lower chance of happening in more trusting and eglitarian societies. The two most similar cases in norway would be ABB (twisted world view), and the tragic murder of Benjamin Hermansen, a half norwegian half ghanaian kid who got stabbed to death by racists when he was 16 in 2001. I wish people around the world would be more trusting, and have more reason to trust each other. The four factors I think are most detremental to trust are; it's common to own and carry weapons (so you can guess the other guy has lethal force), poverty, fear mongering media, high crime rates. |
