Btw; Veta; the Fairness Doctrine was abolished 25 years ago. How old were you when you recollected the non-biased media and saw the transition to what we have today?

Stephen Colbert is running in South Carolina, and I have the great honor of living in South Carolina so my choice is clear.

fuck this media bias (specifically foxnews). was talking to an old friend over the weekend, ex-military guy, current HS teacher, total bible belter. asked him whom he would vote for in VA, he said DEFINITELY romney. I was like, not interested in RP, eh? he started to get huffy, and said, you know, i'd rather vote for obama than for RP. WTF??!?

I only had a couple secs to listen to why, but the first reason he started to give was 'isolationism'. that is to say, he treats everything foxnews says as God's gold truth. ffs, how many voters are there out there who are biased because they ignorantly follow foxnews.

also wtf fox, Davis (hugely influential tea party senator in SC) just endorsed RP. this is such big news that cnn.com made it front page stuff. what does foxnews do? nothing. actually they run a smear article on front page about how RP spends money to fly first class. ye gods. if Davis had endorsed anyone besides RP, you better believe it would be right up top at foxnews.

really hope jon Stewart does another bit on how ludicrously RP is getting shafted by all mainstream news, specifically fox.

i mostly agree with that assessment, thrax, except for the curious case of RP, whom most all mainstream media is aggressively ignoring. in RP's case, i like to find my news from much smaller news outlets (i.e. the only ones that mention him). this whole RP debacle has really fucked up my views of media. i will be extremely slow to trust them again.

You still trusted them?

The fairness doctrine **required** broadcasters to devote airtime to controversial topics of public interest.

As if the sheeple couldn't be trusted to make their own evaluations of information available on the market.

well apparently they can't skrum... monte's anecdote is proof enough isn't it?

the megacorporation that runs whatever news outlet you're getting information from generally has an agenda and no legal obligation to tell the truth so this is what you get.

also no offense to you ron paul people but how do you support a guy that doesnt believe in the separation of church and state? just an honest question

i'm atheist so that sort of thing is a deal breaker for me

Veta; where is the source of this claim? You constantly make outlandish claims without sources. Maybe if you learned how to present sources with your claims, people would take you more seriously.
