at 12:39 AM, Wednesday January 4, 2012 EST Sure; I wouldn't discount anyone at this point. Remember the setup of the primaries is different this time. All the large delegate states are later in year. It used to be possible to have a mathematically insurmountable lead after Super Tuesday. This time that won't be possible. Be prepared for a long drawn out battle.

at 3:04 AM, Wednesday January 4, 2012 EST Why do you say that Veta? Are you even watching the race? Did you watch it four years ago? McCain got 4th in Iowa then won the nomination.
Anyway; let's wait and see. This race is about delegates and Iowa is a tiny state. 49 more to go and Paul already gets a bunch of delegates from Iowa. Remember the popular vote doesn't matter; each polling location is worth delegates. Isnt winner takes all. |

at 3:21 AM, Wednesday January 4, 2012 EST Ron Paul may end up getting more Iowa delegates then Romney or Santorum.
"Unlike the first-in-the-nation primary in New Hampshire, the Iowa caucus does not result directly in national delegates for each candidate. Instead, caucus-goers elect delegates to county conventions, who in turn elect delegates to district and state conventions where Iowa's national convention delegates are selected. Ironically, the state conventions do not take place until the end of the primary and caucus season: Iowa is in fact one of the very last states to choose its delegates.[6][7]" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_caucuses Iowa is not a primary; it works differently. |

at 6:33 AM, Wednesday January 4, 2012 EST LMAO at deadcode actually thinking Ron Paul has a shot. And triple LOL at Mitt Romney being the candidate everyone can't stand so much that they've had Herman Cain, Newt, and now Santorum as front runners over the last few weeks. Tells you how pathetic the republican field is this year.
Ron Paul is a complete wingbat... please let him stay around.... please. |

(snicker) mainly so that if Thrax says he's voting for him, I can really call him nasty names. |

at 8:24 AM, Wednesday January 4, 2012 EST looking at the entrance polls (granted its only iowa), it seems paul is more popular than romney among moderates/liberals. which makes me wonder why theres a large group of people who think he is by far the least electable. if anything i would guess he is more electable than romney (because i think the majority of moderates would rather have 4 more years of obama than take a chance on romney.) whereas paul offers something genuinely different from the standard, and the younger generation supports him in astounding percentages-- he could take a chunk out of obamas youth movement.
but old ladies hate him for some reason. i mean, ive heard from 90%+ of republicans that they dont care who will win, they will vote against obama. but if you really care that obama gets ousted, then i dont think you should discount paul offhandedly. |
