btw...this works well...

Deadcode um... peeps are not cheating by shutting down service. They cheat by temporarily interrupting service.

And it only take 1 corrupt mod (with access to IPs) + the above software to interrupt someone's service.

Happy Dicing

lol DDDY it is painful to see you reveal how truly stupid you are with every post you make.

That program you linked wouldn't do anything to someone's kdice connection for so many reasons it is hardly worth addressing.

First of all, a firewall on the person's router or home PC would do fine to not allow enough traffic to crash someones connection.

Second, the ISP wouldn't be too pleased with someone trying to attack one of their users with a denial of serve and the person sending the attack would be in deep shit. I find it extremely hard to believe that someone on this site would risk the legal problems of a DOS attack over this stupid game.

5,000 facepalms for you.

Also as deadcode mentioned KGameService_Proxy.attack is obviously an error output from some server side function screwing up. (Someone can fire up webscarab or even firebug to see how often this function is used all the time every game)

same denial of the same thing no one is accusing anyone of. Interesting.

It's not a denial, it's an explanation that the theory is ridiculous from a technical point of view. People are making technical points that have no merit in reality at all.

deadcode and I bot have obviously worked with web software and have some understanding of how this game works on the back end and how it communicates with the client therefore we have a good idea of what is and what is not possible. The things people are claiming here are pretty near impossible without breaking some major laws.

bcmatteagles, don't even bother trying to explain it to them.

They clearly don't understand how it works; and are somehow comforted by the fact that their failures are caused by a boogieman rather then just random coincidence.

The software that was used back in 2010 was not the same software that is in the link that I posted. So while that software may not be useful, the software used back in 2010 was very useful. I have seen it 1st hand in action.

And while I do agree that many peeps are parnoid about the boogyman, I also know that IP attacks are very real and there are very real tools to interrupt service.

One person who can explain more of the tech specifics is SprintTx (his screen name is similar to that)

So the more you guys state that things are not possible, the more I wonder how much "mis-direction" is being spewed to the masses.

That being said, you do make some very valid points Deadcode...

I'm not saying it isn't possible to lag someone out by overwhelming their connection. I'm just saying that the hurdles are too numerous for the process to be productionized without a ton of work.

First; you would have to know everyone's IP. So instantly you are talking about an rogue admin; because there is no one else with access to that data.

Second; the person you are talking about would have to have access to a bot net. Otherwise how would this person be able to overwhelm a broadband internet connection? Pings would be considered part of your outgoing bandwidth; all internet connections have more incoming bandwidth then outgoing. So you would need something much more powerful then 1 broadband connection to overwhelm another broadband connection. Building a bot net is not trivial in the least bit. Just owning one is a federal crime; with extremely serious consequences.

Now after all of the above; you'd still have to attack the IP at the right time. Hope they don't have a router that thwarts your attack; hope the ISP doesn't instantly detect this activity and report you to the feds.

All of this just seems pretty unlikely. And if it were true; it begs the obvious question of why would they use it to rob you guys of a few points on a 500 or 100 table; when they could use it at a 2k or 5k table. And I can assure you none of these things you are talking about are happening there.

Yeah it's me. You got me. I've been following you around on the 100 tables; using my bot net to lag you out and collect your 212 points.

Okay; good talk; have fun
