simple, skrum: the ASR (and ASR multiplier) and TAZD* account for outliers.

compensates for outliers in number of games (see dottir, Emre Oguz, l3xy, IFIGENIUS, axlehammer)
as well as in percentage profiles (see ji-jo's notably lower score).

oh- it's worth noting that dottir, axlehammer, and Emre Oguz are true outliers while l3xy and IFIGENIUS are mild outliers.

Compensating for outliers in number of games in the TAZD* leaves Vermont without an argument. Verm's argument only involves outliers in percentages.

My argument that TAZD measures deviation and not skill is solid, and always has been. We've had this conversation before.

A skill ranking that recognizes positive vs negative deviation would be far more accurate as a test of skill. If all you want is a test of deviation, then you're all set.

Chloe, doesn't one your scoring methods take into account pos/neg changes? You know, the crazy idea that someones score should go up as their first % goes up?

Are you actually arguing that because TAZD* fixes one issue, that the other one doesn't matter?
skrumgaer wrote

No, I am saying that your assertion that the TAZD*'s fixing of one issue makes it "significantly superior" to the TAZD. You have the burden of proof to show this, using commonly accepted standards of significance.

I said nothing about the TAZD* until after you made your recent statement, so I'm not sure why you're making that up.

I did mention chloe's asr, which I believe does take into account positive vs negative deviation. Several of us (myself, chloe, monte) have explained to you ad naseum in other threads as to why this is a superior method of measuring skill and not merely deviation.
