The TAZD and baseball-style standings are explained on my Wall. At least 35 regular games played in the month are require to qualify for the monthly TAZD. Shown are Games Behind, TAZD, and player name.

at 6:16 PM, Thursday December 1, 2011 EST Compensating for outliers in number of games in the TAZD* leaves Vermont without an argument. Verm's argument only involves outliers in percentages.

at 6:28 PM, Thursday December 1, 2011 EST My argument that TAZD measures deviation and not skill is solid, and always has been. We've had this conversation before.
A skill ranking that recognizes positive vs negative deviation would be far more accurate as a test of skill. If all you want is a test of deviation, then you're all set. Chloe, doesn't one your scoring methods take into account pos/neg changes? You know, the crazy idea that someones score should go up as their first % goes up? |

at 6:32 PM, Thursday December 1, 2011 EST No, I am saying that your assertion that the TAZD*'s fixing of one issue makes it "significantly superior" to the TAZD. You have the burden of proof to show this, using commonly accepted standards of significance.

at 6:37 PM, Thursday December 1, 2011 EST I said nothing about the TAZD* until after you made your recent statement, so I'm not sure why you're making that up.
I did mention chloe's asr, which I believe does take into account positive vs negative deviation. Several of us (myself, chloe, monte) have explained to you ad naseum in other threads as to why this is a superior method of measuring skill and not merely deviation. |
