the only thing i'd add to this is that some of the moderators that actually are active are temperamental and ban simply based on emotion rather than because they are upholding well regarded rules.

my opinion is, if a majority of the community would find something bannable or offensive then it should be treated as such - if a majority of the community doesn't give a shit then who the fuck cares.

i also think OTF=PGA so frankly the competitive integrity of this game is nonexistent, not to mention the retarded member tournaments and their point inflation.

Greek, I was the ONLY fucking moderator on this site for almost 18 months. I did my fair share of time keeping my eye on this site. I don't have the time/energy to do the job properly and I'm not going to moderate gameplay with the limited time I spend at the tables. I don't know the relationships anymore and I'm not in correspondance with the underground of cheaters that like to pwn other cheaters.

By the way, the player was eliminated from sitting at tables which means his avatar will never be seen again. You know how people will see his avatar? By you posting his account on a forum post. I'll go in and -avatar him, but you really need to get off your high horse some times. At least veta is halfway elegant when he foams at the mouth over moderation.

and monte, what should i be thankful for? look at the advisorLog...i only went through 11 pages (2 weeks) worth of bans, but i saw thrax, sam and rowdy once each. so what is it that i should appreciate? the fact that i can't play a game nowadays without cheaters or horrible players being at the table with me?

rob i understand you were a great mod for 18 months. i'm talking about now though. if you are over being a mod, then quit. in fact, mods should have fixed terms like legislators do now that i think about it.

How am I on a high horse. I give advice to noobs when asked. I look into minor infractions when asked. I offer advice to other mods either here (or occasionally) on the mod forum. I don't have the time to spend moderating here 5 days a week 6 hours a day like I could 2 years ago. For awhile BR held the post of "most active mod". More recently it's been Jurgen. The site has stayed relatively well covered since I became a mod in April 09.

Before that do you know what we had for moderation here???? Skrum and Grun.

greek since when was advisorLog any kind of decent measure of how well the mods are doing? hell even if you use that as the measure, 3 bans is better than zero. its not like Ryan will find replacement mods if current mods step down (see how he got rid of myr and shev, and only replaced them with jurg?)

and rob makes an excellent point. hes not just a banner, but also an advisor to people who need help. when noobs dare to step foot in the forum and ask a noob question, the mods have all taken turns with helpful answers. theyve made good blog posts that noobs read and learn from. theyve made good blog posts that define the rules more explicitly, and hinder cheating in that way.

and when cheating happens and they arent around, they have set up a decent system for how to report the suspected cheater(s), and then they discuss the debatable decisions with each other. what more do you srsly want them to do?

it would be complete moronic failure to suggest that thrax or BR or verms or anyone-but-jurgen should step down because they arent as active as jurgen. ffs, you bitch at jurgen for being too active, you bitch at others for not being active enough. this is why i say be fuckin appreciative instead of being a bitch all the time. it helps in real life too.
