at 8:25 AM, Friday November 11, 2011 EST agreed thrax. flag-to-specific-player flags would be awesome. and i would go so far as to put a stamp on the transitive flag issue, and say that as soon as you flag to a specific person, if that person is already flagged to someone else, then you auto-flag to them too. ppl would hate it, but those ppl are the ones who just try to manip the vflags. which is what drives noobs crazy.

at 8:46 AM, Friday November 11, 2011 EST i wouldn't care about the points if people actually played proper kdice...everyone either whores the members tourneys or pga, otf, vflag etc. to avoid the end of the world, aka losing points in ONE of MANY games they will play that month

at 10:54 AM, Friday November 11, 2011 EST who is one to decide what proper kdice is. we have a game and a few meager lines of rules - that's it. everything else is up to the community, the community (as it is shrinkin) has chosen social diplomacy as the dominant form of table success. if you suck at that you are shit out of luck unfortunately.
if you want a game that doesnt emphasize social diplomacy then this is the wrong game, if you want a more pure strategy game then the only solution would be to make everyone anonymous. that can be accomplished in a variety of ways my favorite being a "Find Me a Game" button that would just bring you to a game with people of similar skill (ELO) or points and would decide the points you earn based on the ELO or points of the players playing a table. Everyone would be labelled by their color. For those that still want the friendship and social bullshit there could be custom games that could or could not count towards the monthly competition. lots of sites do it in the way i described above and are successful, I've said it before but I think giving members the ability to host custom tables where they choose the parameters (# players, # territory, teams or not, etc) would be fun, not compromise the competitive integrity of the competition, and be a good replacement for members tournaments. all the above would definitely bring back players and attract new ones. |
