@Thraxle.... point 1)

I'm not sure it's possible to be affirmative about that. If I said I haven't entertained that notion and have similar suspicions I'd be lying. But I haven't brought much attention to that for the simple reason I can't see being able to say that without adding.... "largely speculative". There's something to be said about pattern recognition for sure. But in here, it's tenuous at best. I'd have to have a better awareness of Veta's historical behavior in here than I have. Maybe you have that, I dunno. Still, while determining motives or character traits on the Internet I believe is somewhat do-able, there's always the risk of it being gutted do to the abstract nature of what were doing here.

Point... 2)

From what I've seen, I'm inclined to agree. It's difficult to accept that Veta simply won the lotto by chance in being singled out by some fluke and unfortunate chance. I don't know what his story or deal is exactly nor do I really want to. However, I'm inclined to suggest that he's... 1) Certainly played a role in it, whatever that might be and has continued to add fuel to it to another degree. I understand that the natural impulse is to "defend" oneself when faced with the onslaught he's been faced with. However, I have to say that defending or attempting to justify one's historical actions probably isn't helping him much and perhaps only worsens his case. Something for him to maybe ponder on.

Point... 3)

Seems to be more and more agreement
here on all fronts. Perhaps time to shift the discussion to another level. Given that we're shackled to the Admin's willingness to do anything at all it's possible nothing will change. However, that's not to say discussions can't be had in terms of possible alternatives. I've toyed with the idea of "actually" introducing "democratic angles" to the moderation platform by way of electing a (set) of mods periodically based upon votes from the community here. The number of votes each candidate receives could establish the hierarchy or order of authority each candidate is given. Ryan, could be given some sort of final veto powers I presume given that the need would arise I'm sure. A forum could be established where candidates could post reasons why they feel they are the best choice. An open forum could also be had which posts grievances against unfair decisions for all to see and is open to discussion and perhaps arbitration. Of course the entire production I suspect could be prone to similar corruption and cronyism seen in our own democracies should the top 10% participate heavily in the voting arrangement ensuring they vote in their own, while the other 99% is asleep at the wheel. Nonetheless, not unlike real life, you don't vote and or participate?... you can't bitch. I suspect Internet proxies would be problematic in terms of keeping the voting system secure and fair if not near impossible. It's kinda fun to think about as an experiment but in all fairness, I predict would NEVER happen given the complexities and mechanics involved.

Thraxle,

once again, I am not sure I agree with your example of the "radar" and the policeman (you will tell me it is becoming an habit).
We live in a world where there are laws and judges. Laws are here to give a framework, judges are here to interpret the laws and make a judgement. The policeman and the car driver know the laws; If the car driver gets pulled for being over the speed limit, he will not be surprised. So the policeman (being the judge here) made a decision, knowing the laws. What we lack here are the laws.

You are implying they exist, but who are aware of them apart from the Mod? Where can I read them? Players and Mods need to be aware of the laws.

And who cares if the laws are perfect. Obviously they will not be. Our laws are not perfect either. But they will give you the possibility to do your job with much less controversy.
