So that we can end this 300+ messages discussion....

Veta isn't furious, he's just getting a rise out of all this conversation, trust me. Furious is a strong word. Sam is nowhere near furious. As a matter of fact, Sam probably isn't even thinking about this anymore.

Ryan is a busy guy and caring for these sites is not the #1 priority in his life. This is not his primary source of income. Please believe me when I tell you that all the moderators try to keep Ryan as active as possible, but it simply doesn't happen often.

As for the guidelines, many of us have written moderation guidelines at times and they probably conflict with each other a bit. Similar to my analogy to a policeman setting up radar on a particular highway. One cop might pull you for doing 8 MPH over the speed limit whil another might not pull you unless you're at least 12 MPH over. The guidelines of the site aren't specific, but they are guidelines. I'm not even sure you can get AS SPECIFIC AS WE'D ALL LIKE with the rules because there are grey areas (despite veta's attempt to convince you otherwise).

In short, I'm trying to tell you that I'd be shocked if anything changes anytime soon. Like veta said, he simply wanted an open dialogue as to the site moderation. He wasn't expecting some ground breaking changes to be made to the site, just simple visibility as to the operation.

as far as your analogy, it's usually +9 or +14 mph

I'd be open to writing Ryan an email asking for some basic site guidelines in a blogpost.

I'm sure if it was endorsed by Rob, Sam, Jurgen and company Ryan might pay heed. We could definitely suggest he just use Rob or Bone-Roller's threads as a base for his guidelines as that might be much easier/appealing to someone whose first priority is nowhere near this site's moderation.

That being said, I'd like some clarification directly from Ryan about the punishable offenses of sharing, permabanning, banning mains for alt transgressions, and other somewhat controversial precedents. Although that might just be a pipe dream.

As I've used sharing as a means for Ryan to reset you before, I think you know where he sits with that Veta. I don't mind sharing as long as it isn't use to accumulate mass points and ruin the top 100, but again, where do you draw the line?

I wouldn't mind sharing as long as it adds to the game and doesn't detract. Bombardier playing 1700 games detracts, sure - but letting someone use an alt with 2k so you can fill a 2k table, I don't see an inherent problem there... But that's just me and I'm obviously much more pro-self regulation when it comes to kdice.

Also want to note, I find that as far as moderators go - Ryan made a good choice with you Rob. You have a cool head for the most part and are open minded to seeing things in an opposing perspective.

You're still conservative though so you lose some points there ;)

This is why people like me and monte shout about "grey areas" so much, and why a moderators particular view is always the deciding factor.

Let's say you share an account to start a 2k and it wins the game (+2,500). Later in the month you decide to play that account in the Grand Finale and place high enough to garner you a finish in 99th place for the month. Technically the sharing stole a white trophy from a more deserving player.

See why it's a tough topic to moderate?

veta there is nothing unfair to the 6 ppl sitting that table, when one of them puts an alt in there and lags it out. thats random. however, the unfairness is to the other hundred of so ppl who couldve sat in that game, but instead will sit in a standard 7person game. its basically spreading 1600 free points from the alt to 6 other people.

i mean, if i had to choose between sitting at tables where 7th was always taken, hell yes!
