at 7:36 PM, Sunday September 11, 2011 EDT The fact that I can so vividly remember the days' events is exactly why the day is so important. Just like how I remember that Bush was with a bunch of schoolkids when he found out about the attacks. That fact doesn't mean a damn thing, but I can remember it.
Don't tell me you can't remember what you were doing when Kennedy was assassinated skrum. It doesn't take away from the gravity of the event, it adds to it. |

at 7:47 PM, Sunday September 11, 2011 EDT The fact that the day was important is why you remember the day's events, not the other way around. It's a pyschological reaction to a possible threat, in case you have to take action.
Most of us didn't have to take action. For those who did, this is their day. Ten years later, we get a better picture of what happened because the people in the events are able to tell their stories, instead of being wrapped up in the event. For the rest of us, it is best if we just listened and shut up. |

at 7:52 PM, Sunday September 11, 2011 EDT so let's recap..
MRK starts a thread about how HE was glued to the television that day, which is him sharing what HE was doing that day. I chime in with my meager memories of the day, especially since nobody was offering anything of merit for me to LISTEN to in this thread. I thought the thread would highlight how a few of us experienced the day even though I wasn't within 6 hours drive of Manhattan. But for you to say my experience doesn't matter, that's ridiculous. Everyone's life changed that day, especially American's lives. My day didn't involve me escaping a falling building or rescuing an injured comrade.....but I experienced the day nonetheless. My memories have just as much merit as the next person. |

Everything's fine except your last sentence. Some memories have more merit than others in the ears of others. |

at 7:58 PM, Sunday September 11, 2011 EDT So in your opinion I should never have posted my thoughts in this thread. Perhaps I should have simply stated the time of impact for tower 2, or some other bit of information anyone can read on wikipedia.
A forum is for sharing thoughts, opinions, and experiences. I shared mine, that was all. You didn't have to listen. : ) |
