"the majority of kdicers have gone from playing to win to now you all play to hurt new people and circle jerk the older players who you're friends with. Fucking people out of a position, or just sitting there while someone else does it, because you're buddies with one person and not the other is dumb."

OMG THIS

When I found this site I loved it. Been playing dicewars for years against the computer and decided to Google it one day and see if you could play against people. Thought I was in heaven.

But WOW the politics and shenanigans that are an unavoidable part of kdice, ESPECIALLY at the 500+ tables, makes it extremely unpleasant. This game should not be about who you are friends with or how good you are at kissing ass in chat or how many proxies you got - it should be about how good you are at dicewars style strategy. Part of that strategy should not be how diplomatically you can coordinate flags or not piss off the person who is in the lead or who you know and your history with them etc.

I don't know what can be done to fix this but I'm about ready to give up on this site because of this nonsense. Can't believe how much effort people put into cheating and otherwise manipulating the system to get an edge in a game that gives you NOTHING if you win.......

Really? Dicewars style strategy ONLY applies to dicewars where you are playing bots that follow the same protocol for every turn. It takes about 4 games of dicewars for a blind kid to learn this. This game is made of PEOPLE that do not act like dicewars bots. Diplomacy, trucing, use of the chat, knowledge (trust, reputation) of other players are what makes this game stand out and above dicewars. At least here you can compete for points and trophies (however completely meaningless) rather than to see how many games you can win in a row at dicewars.

I agree the strat is different with people and thats why I wanted to play. But the strat shouldn't involve all of those things you mentioned, just knowing not to spread yourself thin etc and all of the other mistakes the dice wars bots make.

If you sit down at a game with 6 random strangers and there is no chat - it would be much harder to beat that game than the dice wars bots. But that game and this game are nothing alike. All of the 'social' elements of the game ruin it, for me at least. I don't want to play to team up with people and lean to be nice to strangers or punish strangers for not speaking nice to me. It should be about the game not 3rd grade practice in getting along and playing well with others.

Noone is saying you HAVE to play that way. In order to succeed at earning png trophies you might, but you can stick to your guns and not accept every weak flag or truce offer thrown your way.

i still think it would be fun to anonymize games as follows.

7 people sit in
screennames get disappeared.
everyone gets randomized into random color so no one knows who anyone else is.
chatbox becomes a very simple chatbox with no option to type anything. only click buttons to offer truce and accept truce when offered.
then whole table sees when a truce exists, and can counter if they want to organize.

the key would be learning how to truce silently, but youd never know if you could really trust that neighbor or not once you moved away from him.... would be fun.

"the key would be learning how to truce silently..."

This is what people do on the 2k-5k tables and we still get posts every day talking about PGA. Maybe I'm blind (and I am; I wear contacts); but I almost never see PGAs. Maybe once every 2 months or so; and they are almost all at the 0-100 tables. 2k-5k games is all silent truces in my opinion; either learn how to identify them and offer them; or you will die.
