Any comment on this? Isn't this the eventual conclusion of all such centrally planned ideas? This is for those progressives who are planning the same thing for the USA. |

at 10:59 PM, Saturday July 30, 2011 EDT universal public health care systems are not akin to an all u can eat buffet. and triage is not akin to rationing. health services are a finite resource. in order to distribute them in a way that is just we use the principles of triage, which you are familiar with at your neighbourhood ER...i don't see why this is so difficult to expect.
Health services should be distributed based on need not wealth. |

at 12:00 AM, Sunday July 31, 2011 EDT Boogy why do you treat doctors as a natural resource? They are clearly human and can make their own decisions.
Why do you refer to their services as "resources" subject to your "distribution"? These are people; they have lives; they have ambitions; they have a right to practice their trade without government hands telling them how/when/who/ and where they should treat people. |

at 12:02 AM, Sunday July 31, 2011 EDT You can already see the consequences of the governments regulations on the medical field; doctors are in short supply.
And trust me; adding government pay limitations and regulations are not the answer to that problem. |

at 4:34 AM, Sunday July 31, 2011 EDT That may be true for you; but these centrally planned systems eventually go bankrupt and provide worse services then the free market.
Why do you think I'm being dramatic? Explain. |

at 9:45 PM, Sunday July 31, 2011 EDT I just think its dramatic to say that all universal health care systems are headed to bankruptcy. At the very least, such a statement is more opinion than fact, just like any such sweeping generalization. Last I checked it was this country--not Canada--that was mired in a debt crisis.

at 9:57 PM, Sunday July 31, 2011 EDT Umm Boogy; Canada's debt is 81% of GDP the USA is 92% of GDP.
You should at least look this stuff up before assuming. Canada has also recently started paying down their debt to hopefully avoid the situation we are in. |
