So here's another thread so I can get some of that point of view.

at 11:29 PM, Tuesday July 26, 2011 EDT I would push for the repeal of federal laws that make it illegal for citizens to buy insurance from a company out of state. This would instantly make the insurance industry far more competitive; prices would drop and this would have the effect of a tax decrease for both companies and employees.

at 11:34 PM, Tuesday July 26, 2011 EDT I would push for securing our border. Once secure; I would increase the quota of immigration so that immigration would be very much so increased.
After the border is secure and immigration policy is set. I would grant a pathway to citizenship for illegals; that would include payment for missed taxes. For those of you worried about he increase in immigration taking jobs. Immigration is a net plus for the American system. Immigrants may take a job; but they also spend their money at Target; save their money at Banks; invest their money in the US economy and produce businesses. All of this has the net effect of more jobs and more prosperity. |

at 11:36 PM, Tuesday July 26, 2011 EDT I would push for a voucher system for schools in America. If parents would like to send their child to a private school instead of a public school; they should be able to use their accrued tax dollars towards that goal. This would have the effect of giving inner city parents the ability to escape the poor schools in their district.

at 11:49 PM, Tuesday July 26, 2011 EDT It sounds nice deadcode, need to do research on each of these proposals to see if they work out.
I watched the Milton Freeman video and I realized he never explained how removing minimum wage laws would result in a fair wage for our "fellow man". He says we have a responsibility to our fellow man, which I agree with, but he doesn't explain how this "responsibility" to our fellow man results in a fare wage. I will be looking at how minimum wage works in other countries that have a higher minimum wage and those which have no minimum wage. According to my friend who visited Zurich, the bus drivers there make about 60,000 Euros (about 87,000 dollars US). (be back tomorrow with my research results) |

I would have to disagree http://www.foundry.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/wapoobamabudget1.jpg does not contradict jpc4ps graph. in fact both graphs is an incomplete picture. your graph only shows the bottom line, the problem is that the bottom line often takes years from the actual action. jpc4ps graph only shows new projects, not all the renewed projects. a person advocating for Obama might say that the deficit spending is because of bush era tax cuts, and other programs that the GOP congress will not let Obama fix. Claiming that the GOP refuses certain cuts, and refuses tax increases. both the graphs can be correct, the measures different things. jpc4ps graph takes only into account new programs, not increased spending in old ones, or decreased spending in old ones, not increased/decreased tax revenue from already existing taxes. |

at 12:08 AM, Wednesday July 27, 2011 EDT Yeah that is my point Mrk. That is exactly what I'm saying. A chart alone is an incomplete picture; because you can't see what is "in it" and what "isnt".

at 12:11 AM, Wednesday July 27, 2011 EDT Once again; my point was not that the chart in my post is proof that jpc's is wrong.
My point was that you can find a chart to say ANYTHING. What is important is not the chart; it is the underlying assumptions and data. A chart is only a visual of something that you have already agreed upon. You can't show a chart to prove a point; because the data needs to be accepted by both sides first. |

at 1:16 AM, Wednesday July 27, 2011 EDT I want similar results to what deadcode wants, I just want to accomplish it in almost the exact opposite manner.
i.e. Amnesty and immigration reform before securing the border. Hell with proper immigration reform you don't need to "secure" the border, this would also require ending the retarded war on drugs. I tend to think most civil intelligent people in this country want similar outcomes we just differ on how to get there. Unfortunately no what that is civil or intelligent holds political office in our country. Sigh... |
