This is dedicated to all you self proclaimed conscientious patriots, We want to get this straight.
You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President. You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy. You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed. You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed. You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us. You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war. You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq. You didn’t get mad when you saw the Abu Grahib photos. You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people. You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans. You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden. You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed. You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city drown. You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark. You finally got mad when.. when… wait for it… when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all ok with you but helping other Americans… well fuck that. That about right? You know it is. You people have all lost your fucking minds. You are selfish, greedy, obnoxious, narcissistic, and frankly… stupid. Your pathetic little misspelled protest signs are embarrassing. Maybe you ought to find the smart person in your midst and let them make up all the signs, cause man, you look like a bunch of idiots. Also you’re ugly and your mother dresses you funny. |

Who are you to dictate whether this thread is about the U.S. Constitution? The thread originator listed a set of Federal commissions or omissions. Looks like the Constitution is the relevant document. |

well I read all the posts.... there have been plenty of constitutional threads, this has been a thread about the morality of healthcare and how good different healthcare systems are, in different nations. with many of the posts comparing with systems other places in the world, and people like me, that are not a US citizen. I do believe reffering the constitution of the united states of america as an arguementin a discussion about economy, politics internatioally, and the philosophy of different views, is frankly rude. it is rude to assume that the constitution of the united states of america is so perfect and well thought out that you don't have to use any other argument. Saying something should be a certain way because the people that were around 240 years ago thought so really isn't an argument. if the reasoning of those men were good, and still valid today, THEN USE THAT REASONING. bringing the constitution as an argument up like this is not that much better than bringing up the bible. the constitution of the united states of america is a good or bad document based on what is written there, you cannot assume it is a good document and then argue that because it is assumed good, each law in it is good also. |

at 8:15 PM, Monday July 18, 2011 EDT If you are talking about Federal issues, the Constituion is the only argument. If you are talking about health care by the states, our states are approximately the size of European countries so if a European country can come up with a good plan a U.S. state can. So why not let the U.S. states do the job? We can have 50 different laboratories trying out 50 different plans.

i like milton friedman in so much as that he thinks current republicans are crazy and thinks the war on drugs was a huge failure. heres a piece of advise though dead, why not stop looking for people to follow and make your own assertions and opinion about topics. stop referring people to ron paul and whoever else and defend your own beliefs in your own words. if you cant do that then you dont truly understand them or hold them. furthermore do you understand and recognize how healthcare is not a freemarket and could not operate as one? is it a compulsory market. that is to say you dont choose to have your leg broken and then choose which doctor is the best based on whatever. you go to the emergency room and get it fixed. its a compulsory market, not a free one. as such you cant treat it like one or else you end up with what you have in mexico or what we have. |

at 8:37 PM, Monday July 18, 2011 EDT skrum that's cool bro, and obama already said that if a state can come up with a better system than romneycare its allowed to implement it instead of the current romneycare bill. and actually states have been doing this, except not how you might like. vermont passed universal healthcare and oregon is on the verge of its own universal healthcare bill.
