This is dedicated to all you self proclaimed conscientious patriots, We want to get this straight.
You didn’t get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President. You didn’t get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate energy policy. You didn’t get mad when a covert CIA operative got outed. You didn’t get mad when the Patriot Act got passed. You didn’t get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us. You didn’t get mad when we spent over 600 billion(and counting) on said illegal war. You didn’t get mad when over 10 billion dollars just disappeared in Iraq. You didn’t get mad when you saw the Abu Grahib photos. You didn’t get mad when you found out we were torturing people. You didn’t get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans. You didn’t get mad when we didn’t catch Bin Laden. You didn’t get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed. You didn’t get mad when we let a major US city drown. You didn’t get mad when the deficit hit the trillion dollar mark. You finally got mad when.. when… wait for it… when the government decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, are all ok with you but helping other Americans… well fuck that. That about right? You know it is. You people have all lost your fucking minds. You are selfish, greedy, obnoxious, narcissistic, and frankly… stupid. Your pathetic little misspelled protest signs are embarrassing. Maybe you ought to find the smart person in your midst and let them make up all the signs, cause man, you look like a bunch of idiots. Also you’re ugly and your mother dresses you funny. |

we should just get socialism today, the only way to save us from the evil capitalist swines! the evil imperial nation of USA has traveled away from its roots as a nation for the people. now the facist nation is distorting the facts, convincing its people with clever propaganda that it is still the nation it once was. the imperialist nation must be destoryed if humanity shall have any chance of cooperationg to acheave an evacuation of this globe of limitied resourses. capitalism is a failed experiment that have already destroyed the free democratic state. |

shortfrom of the answer A: Both House and Senate bills would levy a tax on persons who refuse to obtain coverage. Willfully evading that tax could result in jail time under the bill passed by the House – but not the bill approved by the Senate Finance Committee. |

at 12:50 PM, Monday July 18, 2011 EDT Let me ask you something Rob. You understand how capitalism works right? How competition between multiple firms produces different services, some superior, some inferior? Ultimately the consumers vote (with money) on who they think is the best. That's clever, it's called capitalism. Ultimately consumers get the best product for the cheapest price.
Why then does healthcare cost more every year? Why is care getting progressively worse? Does capitalism not function to mitigate and solve these problems? Well it should. And it does in some parts of the medical field. In the cosmetic surgery industry procedures are not only getting cheaper every year but their quality is also improving. This is because of capitalism at play. Multiple providers are competing for the consumer's patronage. I submit to you the reason this is not the case for the rest of the medical industry is because capitalism is not really at play. Healthcare is not a freemarket. And if it is not a freemarket (you don't really choose or select your practitioner, nor do you choose what kind of illnesses to get and when or where you get contract them) then it follows that it does not follow the rules of a capitalistic free market. This explains why healthcare is getting more expensive and why care is getting progressively worse. It is not a free market and as such, much like defense, fire departments, the court system, and police departments it cannot be effectively regulated by the freemarket. Ergo another entity need to run the healthcare industry, this entity being society (as in the government). That's what EVERY OTHER MODERN NATION DOES. Poke a hole in that argument you radical bastard. |

That's the point. You can't have an efficient freemarket healthcare system because healthcare does not follow a free market. Monopolies are other examples of markets that are not free. That's why they are illegal. Would you like me to further educate you on different types of markets? |
