North Korea was just appointed chair of the U.N. Conference on Disarmament.
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/north-korea-head-un-conference-disarmament_575920.html We need to cut funding to this organization and kick them out of NYC. |

at 12:05 PM, Thursday June 30, 2011 EDT i mean really, if you read that article, the writer is basically arguing not to be worried about north korea being in charge because that conference is nearly useless. and that is written by a UN-backed blogger?

at 12:08 PM, Thursday June 30, 2011 EDT oh my bad. i was answering your second question, where you were trying to defend the existence of that conference.
i'll see if i can get around to finding links for UN corruption. maybe im just thinking of UN presidents (i seem to remember the media reporting something about the current UN head (korean?) being involved in some kind of corruption.) perhaps the UN entity as a whole is an efficient organization. and perhaps i just live in an area of the states where the UN is painted in poor lighting (i.e. most of america). i'll do some research, since the media is not to be trusted. |

at 12:13 PM, Thursday June 30, 2011 EDT I will admit the UN has problems, like any institution. But the key question is whether we can devise a better alternative. If not, then perhaps its better to retire the grandiose anti-UN rhetoric and make suggestions for actual reforms.

What?! Do you know what a treaty is? Cmon; Boogy; this is a silly statement. Arrogant to pull out of UN? Please. Boogy: "No one has offered any actual evidence that the UN is either corrupt or ineffective. Seems to work okay from my point of view." LMAO!!!!!! Comedy gold. Boogy: "As far as the disarmament conference goes, do you have any better suggestions? How else can global disarmament be achieved if not through protracted multilateral negotiations?" Sorry to ruin the end of the movie for you; but global disarmament is never going to happen nor should it. |

Why is Dennis Kucinich praising Assad on Syrian television? Isn't Assad a brutal dictator; who is currently shooting protesters? So much for not supporting dictators and murders anymore... |
