at my 4-year-olds preschool for a little while yesterday, and as I scan the forum here from time-to-time, I come to the realization that those 4-year-olds have an equal to, or greater than, maturity level than a good portion of this "adult" community. This is the main reason I don't actively moderate anymore. If I wanted to babysit a bunch of immature human beings, I would have much more fun at my son's preschool than I do here.

There definitely is a medical disadvantage to birth control and shutting down your period cycle to have less periods Chloe.

My chem/math tutor has a Phd and works in a DNA analyzing lab as well as running her own woman's health practice. She specializes in woman's fertility and woman's health. Most of her clients are women in their 30's and 40's who are trying to get pregnant and are having a very difficult time....The greatest similarity in all these women is that they have been on birth control for 10-20 years.

I'm not knocking birth control but my tutor hates the stuff. She says it's horrible for women and we are, just now, finding out what the negative side effects are of these drugs because it takes YEARS AND YEARS for it to show up.

Whenever you mess with your hormones or body functions there are repercussions. This is a biological fact.

Ya, that would suck.

Oh, chole, can't ban me anymore, I jumpstarted this racy thread and help get Thrax get 100.

If you do ban me, this is essentially a hostile aggression towards Thrax/KDICEMOD (since probably I will help him in another 100 thread) and we all saw what happened to HH. I hope you know whats good for you.

In fact you could give me a contributor badge for being awesome in this kdice thing.

That's like the best post you have ever given Yodel. No rage.

Also, Thrax, that sucks for your Buddy :P. I hope his kid is healthy and the birth on his mom is fine.

oh there are definitely long term medical disadvantages to birth control, but afaik taking birth control to have 12 periods a year or 4 has the same effect long term. Birth control has HUGE short-term negative side effects- hair loss, major mood swings, weight gain, cysts (I literally almost lost an ovary because of mine), blood clots, nausea, the list goes on. But as someone with an extremely irregular cycle and long heavy periods, it's easy to see the appeal- knowing exactly what day I would get my period and exactly how long it would last and how light/heavy it would be was AMAZING.

Also that was a valid and pertinent contribution by Yodel to this thread and should be acknowledged as such.

There is no medical reason to have a period every 28 days, and honestly it is unnatural and was decided by a man. I read a pretty interesting essay on the development of the pill, done by a christian fella for the sake of finding a way to make a form of birth control that would be okay with the Vatican if I remember right. I think it was an essay by Malcolm Gladwell.
