nazis did way worse stuff than that dead. also iran isn't a dictatorship so i don't see how that applies either.

but yah anybody who has actually been waterboarded or tortured at all (see: mccain) will readily tell you that shit is equally fucked up.

i forgot who it was but some right wing radio personality said he was going to get waterboarded and donate money according to how many seconds he lasted. dude lasted about 1 second and afterwards recanted everything he said about the whole fiasco being an overreaction. it was in the news so i think you might be familiar with it but if you're not i can look it up.

anyway i won't put our society on a pedestal here because i am very much aware of the atrocities we have committed and are capable of.

BO: "nazis did way worse stuff than that dead. also iran isn't a dictatorship so i don't see how that applies either."

Sure Nazi's did worse stuff; not sure what your point is.

Iran is a dictator ship. I think you should read more about the current status of the country. They have a Supreme Leader; which gets "elected" by a "Assembly of Experts". However the assembly of experts are actually people who are subordinate to the Supreme Leader.

Let's see how that has worked in practice. The first Supreme Leader was Ruhollah Khomeini; who reigned until he his death. When Khomeini was near death the Assembly of Experts chose a successor; however it was not to Khomeini's liking so he veto'd the choice and instead chose Ali Khamenei. Ali Khamenei has served from 1989 till present and will probably remain Supreme Leader until a time of his choosing; probably his death.

Sounds like a dictatorship to me. Listen; you can put lipstick on a pig; but it's still a pig. If that sounds like a representative government then I think you have made my point for me. You have zero respect for non-totalitarian governments. Hence why most people are repulsed by your goals for American society.

BO: "... but yah anybody who has actually been waterboarded or tortured at all (see: mccain) will readily tell you that shit is equally fucked up. "

Listen; no one is saying that water boarding isn't tough as hell; to withstand. In fact; I would definitely categorize it as torture. But only a fool would call it "equally as fucked up" as chopping off fingers and being put in a shedder.

I'm pretty sure you wont have any television personalities signing up to test out those form of tortures.

BO: "i forgot who it was but some right wing radio personality said he was going to get waterboarded and donate money according to how many seconds he lasted. dude lasted about 1 second and afterwards recanted everything he said about the whole fiasco being an overreaction. it was in the news so i think you might be familiar with it but if you're not i can look it up. I'm familiar with the guy you are talking about. Once again; people sign up to be water boarded; people sign up for sleep depravation; etc. No one; and I mean no one; signs up for the Saddam / Nazi style of tortue. Making comparisons shows your lack of judgment.

Btw; I totally agree that the USA should not be partaking in any form of torture. It is totally counter productive to our goals; but please don't equate these forms of torture-lite to the atrocities of other nations.
