Why the evolution of two sexes?
I know that it's arguably beneficial to have two sexes. But I still don't understand how/why sexual reproduction came about

and why two sexes instead of three sexes or four

Well, in a million years it will be one sex(females).

I'll ask my friends on facebook.

well, you know how hard it is to get laid, just imagine that to get laid, you had to find TWO other persons.....

that is why we dont have 3 or more sexes.

sexual reproduction started out with only 1 sex, and at cell level.

some cells bound together to survive harsher timeperoids (like a night, or a winter), to then split after.
sometimes, the DNA from the two celled accidentally mixed, thus you got two new cells with new DNA, some of these where durable, and continued to mix the DNA whenever they combined. and long story short, evolution works much faster on sexed reproduction than nonsexed reproduction. therefore it was an advantage.
that happend BEFORE the evolution of multicelled organisms.

I think you'd have to ask a paleobiologist. Interesting question.

You don't need more than two sexes because the sex that is most promiscuous will have the greatest impact on the genetic pool and the sex that is least promiscuous will gain the greatest benefit from sexual selection and the intermediate sexes will fall in line between these two poles and eventually would be absorbed into one or the other.

lol Mr. K what the fuck are you talking about. God made a man and a woman. Why? I'm not sure ask Him. Cut it out with your bullshit that all you guys accept and act like it's FACT. Yeah sure, we all came from a single-cell....and now i just happen to be able to stick my penis inside a vagina and make babies.

scientists say that the big bang occurred in a trillionth of a second. so uhhh that would be like faster than the speed of light. how the fuck is that not as far-fetched as you guys think believing in God is, if not more so?

Scientist make observations and offer hypotheses based off of as much as they can prove as possible.

You worship a man that started a cult 2,000 years ago. You draw conclusions from a book written by men and has been rewritten by other men a number of times since then.

You tell me which is more far fetched?

GB

what the fick are you talking about?

1 trilionth of a second ?

the big bang was either a single event, or a series of events, if it was a single event, then that was that. if it was a series of events, you can say it spanned 300 000 years.

anyways, if you belive the big bang theory calls for anything to go faster than the speed of light, you are wrong, what the theory calls for is an expansion of space, that is, extra room coming into exstance between objects, therefore the objects does not have to pass the speed of light, it is just alot of "inbetween" that is coming into existance
