This site needs at least a few more mods immediately

There is a real need for honest, fair mods and sooner rather than later...

We went from 0 pre-April 2009 to 8 as of today. Of course not all are fully active, but there is certainly more action now than ever before. It's hard to find suitable mods that A) want the job B) are willing to put up with the children that run around this playpen C) are willing to basically stop playing competitively D) are objective enough to punish anyone that breaks the rules.

Now I'm not saying I was perfect for the job....far from it. But I tried to be as objective as possible. Maintaining anonymity would have helped, and I think anonymous mods would be the best way to go. Unfortunately that requires an active programmer to properly modify the site as needed.....which we don't really have.

I'm not really going anywhere with this, just adding some random thoughts. More mods would be nice, I just don't know who or how many. I know I haven't been real active lately, and I may not be again for some time (at least watching tables......I still stalk the forum). At some point, if we keep adding more, we'll have a shitload of mods and we will basically be policing ourselves.

It is quite difficult to mod and we all cycle in and out of it to different extents. That's to be expected given the nature of the job.

If we get too many it will be more difficult to keep us on the same page; as it is we have a couple who don't check the mod forum, which is surprisingly active.

I guess I'll just say that the site is at least better with the mods we have than it would be without them, and truly the only way to really improve in any significant way would be to get Ryan to actively work with the community again to develop some new features.

Verm, where is your pointless post. I only see a good one on post #13

And it's true what Thraxle and Vermont point out. A few extra mods would be good to fill in the gaps when nobody is around but I am sure too many more might make us do a worse job than the situation we have now.

You really need to trust everyone's judging and be on the same page. So let's stay picky with new mod recruits (now that I am in, I can say that anyway :P).

and yes the mod forum is pretty active now (cough Thraxle cough). I think I can safely say I used all my forum troll expertise to try and help to revive that forum :P.

I really like Sam's idea about being a bit more strict on modding overfriendly behavior, I don't need it and I don't want it. Maybe we should try and get something on paper where every mod can agree on it being well balanced. It's gonna be impossible to write everything black and white. But people will always whine about them not knowing what is acceptable to use and what not so we better make the effort anyway and go as detailed as we can. After that it's going to be a question of all of us trying to apply it the same way.

Maybe Ryan could fix his star abuse loophole instead?

and fyi Troy, I only vban myself if another mod asks me to, not if a vnobody asks me

as much as I <3 Chloe, I don't think she has the heart to be a mod. Plus, as others said, she'd have to be around more. She's a busy girl.

And I'll reiterate my stance that anyone that was banned in the past should probably not be a mod.

oh wow, a whole 2nd page I didn't see. lol.

I agree, anonymods would be best, but that's not likely. Would require a software fix that Ryan has clearly shown he's not willing to put in the work to do.

That throws any chance of me being a mod ever.
