Obama's speech (some random thoughts while watching it)

"I,in the rush to get things done, had to sign things that had earmarks in them"
..then he goes on to say more bullshit about how the public thinks he hasn't strayed away from that yet (implication that earmarking, etc is a product of Bush's administration). I really cant get over how the public's perception of Obama's administration thus far is still positive, despite the fact that he hasn't done anything he said he would do during his campaign. His platform was all rhetoric and he basically had no way of losing. First off, people subconsciously felt that they'd be acting in a racist manner if they didn't vote for him. I'm not agreeing with this logic, but I think it was definitely an issue. Secondly, the media blamed all of our country on Bush. In my opinion, Obama has fucked things up more so than Bush, and he didn't have to deal with any of the national crises that Bush did.

....

"There was a big deficit that i inherited, and it has grown due to the recession." I'm not even going to comment on this. His "investments" are wasteful spending. Ugh, im gonna puke.

The one thing he said that I agreed with was regarding research and development. He says that "clean energy could make all the difference in terms of job creation here at home." That is something that is true and as a country we need to take a huge step in developing green technology.

to be fair, Obama has had a lot of legislation passed.

snow leopard, the positive perception of Obama I believe is mostly fueled by the media. Gallup polls show that his approval ratings are pretty much standing steady near 50/50:

imo no one is 'blaming the black guy' and everything is still perceived as Bush's fault, even almost two years into Obama's presidency. I'm not saying that Bush was not at all to blame for anything going on, but Obama isn't taking any of the heat.

He took some heat last night during the election results.......and a lot more in today's Q & A with the press.

Look, I'm a democrat but don't hate on all the republicans. I just don't like that the past 30 years of shit is being blamed on Obama. Maybe hes not doing the best job, just stop saying he's running this country into the ground. The roots of all our problems run really deep. So much money has been wasted on these endless stupid wars.

Dennis Kucinich for President (I wish).

I'm pretty sure that no matter what, the current President will always be blamed for the state of the nation, whether or not any of it is his or her fault. Bush faced the same issue.
