New Game, New Year, Ryan please listen

Some changes are in order for 2010 in k-world.

Why? I am so bored of this game it's sickening. I look at the screen and I just don't want to play. It's boring because of the high level of predictability in just about every game.

I can tell you with 90% certainty who will come in 1st, 2nd & 3rd at most 2k & 5k tables. In fact, I did that twice in a row last month at a 2k table.

Every experienced player knows why the games are predictable... the rampant favoritism and pecking order within the realm of the titans of k-dice. Not to mention the cheating threads that never seem to end.

Well, enough bitching and complaining about the reality of this k-world. HOW ABOUT SOME SOLUTIONS!

What I am proposing is not 100% new to some of you. In fact, my proposal of a new game environment is a combination of other people's suggestions and some "going concern" thoughts that have evolved over the past 2 years.

So here goes...

How to change this site to make it fun and challenging again.

#1 - trash the current k-dice 7 player games all together. However, the tourney system should be kept in place with the current 7 player model in place.

# 2 - develop two additional modes of play which include "team" and "incognito".

# 3 - In team play, there would be 3 v 3 teams that you would reserve or sit randomly. "In game" chat would only be limited to you and your team mates. So the other team has no idea what your team is planning.

# 4 - the incognito play would totally replace the current mode of play. It would be simple. This would be a 7 player game. No identity of any player would be known to anyone before or during the game. There would be no open chat. All chat in game would be limited to pre-selected (drop down menu) terms like "I flag 3" or "I'm heading west" or "I want 4th".

At the end of the game, the identity of all players would be revealed to all.

-------------------------------------------

This site has potential. In fact, this site has a lot of potential. However, if the pathetic mode of game play continues without change, I fear that this site will eventualy dwindle out.

In fact, if this site is not changed, my friends and I will likely develop a new site by 2011 to implement the ideas outlined above. Of course, the theme of our game and name will be unique. But at least we will create something that is fun and fresh.

DDDY, stop wasting your time here and start developing your own stuff. Once it is done you can even advertise it in this forum and ryan still won't care.

Really looking forward to it.

Much of what happy said is right. Another problem is, that the chatting is much of this game. Tactics in chat, manipulating, begging, whining, threatening... All that would be lost if you could only chat by drop down or only chat to the 3 guys on your team.

I am quite certain, it would kill the game. If you only wanted to roll dice, you wouldn't be here. The social aspect is vital. And social aspects include the ability to cheat.

You are right about 2k and 5k. Many don't go there any more, thus not getting medals... It is like not playing tourneys because you can't be sure to sit for an hour or more, hard to get to the top without tourneys I think. Still the game can be fun without medals.

As for 1 account per person - that would be great, but hard to enforce. Furthermore, after some frustrating games (don't get me started) you might want to play relaxed for recreation without risk on a 0 or 100 table. But you can't - so you make an alt that can.

Summing it up: cheating can't be avoided it can only be made more difficult, removing chat would kill the game and having only 1 account would require it to play low levels also (if you could ensure 1 account per person which I doubt) getting all the backdraws of that back into it (noob-farming...)

the greatest strength of this site is its social network. this is what rnd never accounted for. he designed a decent game, with a couple of interesting twists (the map is circumnavigatable, the attacking/defending system was closer to risk-style than dicewars-style, there was a ranking system based on american military ranks, etc...). but i feel his largest obstacle was the social network. in the end, i didnt care too much for the tweaks in the gameplay (which were refreshing, dont get me wrong).

i just got super annoyed at playing game after game with the same small group of people, who mostly fell into one category: we-hate-Ryan-and-harharhar-this-is-awesome-rnd. which got old after like 5 games. i missed having the plain nice people around (basically otf-types), and the huge mass of socializing who-gives-a-shit-about-points people. so i dropped c0nflict after a couple weeks and only did kdice, basically because of the social network here (prob not due to how well Ryan has implemented it as much as just how nice people here are).

dddy, do you not realize that the current state of gameplay (specifically vflags) is derived strictly from the tournaments
