Sick of people bitching about the flagging system

Ok this is PROBABLY hand in hand with the 2007 post since i think those are the people whining the hardest but uh... LISTEN UP ALL WHINERS
The current flag system is in place because the other systems had flaws. LEARN-HOW-TO-ADAPT-TO-THIS-SYSTEM-OF-FLAGGING-AND-SCORING. Seriously guys, this is legit from all sides. Here's an example... say in round 5 or 6, there is a fairly dominant 1'st place, and a fairly obvious 2/3 fight. You are in either 2'nd or 3'rd place... sorta doesn't matter for this example. NOW WATCH HOW THIS WORKS. Say you have some random old school bitchy player.. lets name him player 'phoenix'. Player phoenix will try to old school 'silent truce' the other guy and hope he catches on.. which of course he wont since silent truce is a lost art. Next, the other guy will vflag since it will be round 7ish to the 1st place guy. Phoenix will stay silent for a minute and then 1'st place and the 2/3 guy will both attack him. Then he will begin to rant and bitch how gay the vflag was and how the other player was a pussy. By now, 4'th and 5'th will have converged on him, and he will get a fairly decently high dominant 5'th or 6th place and get knocked out while bitching. Lets plug another player that has actually adapted to the game into that same situation. For example sake lets name him dasfury. This player will immediately assess the situation and if it is before the vflag he will truce his other 2/3 opponent. He will in the process, attack only the smaller players, leaving his partner to fend off the stronger 1'st place. Then he will then from the dominant position, force his truce partner to flag and... TAH DAH! 1'ST PLACE!!!!! So what if the vflag has already occurred? NOT A PROBLEM FOR A PRO! Lets just assume that this player isn't phazed by the chat pwning and refuses to take down his flag for a promise of '1st place' that will eventually be taken back on the basis of something to the tune of 'you cut me off' or 'someone lagged out' or something to that tune. This player can say something like "you're flagging 2nd right? let me fight. Yo 1'st place guy let me fight these other people." Then while dasfury kills the other people, he takes the top position and eventually kills the 1st place as he didn't explicitly flag to him. Oh and if you're wondering... in the chance that 1st place attacks him to stay in the dominant role, dasfury would just convince the guy that vflagged that 1'st place is backstabbing or farming, and the vflag would help him out.... I dont know how many times ive watched good players win like this... it seems so obvious of strategy but the old school whiners just dont seem to get it. They see vflags as pussy flags and pga schemes instead of just another tool for strategy. So heres to you dasfury type players... thank you for pwning the old style and new style with little to no whining. And FFS guys... if you learn ONE thing from das its gotta be this... ADAPT |

anyways, the point wasn't to lower your standards of your ideal gameplay. My point is that the players should adapt to the current version while still making it known that they prefer the previous version. I get tired of the same players whining about the new system just because they cant adapt to it. Das, you, sam, voh, etc are what i see as the ideal old school players. Adapt to the new style and play it succesfully while still making it known that you would prefer the old system. See the difference? |

at 2:14 PM, Tuesday September 22, 2009 EDT Who said we can't adapt to this new version of KDice? I can be a vagina every game and earn points like a good little point whore....but that isn't fun.
Flagging to the strongest player in round 3 is boring. Having to fight for 2nd with a neighbor is dumb when the two of you should have allied and taken out the guy in first, except it's too late because that fag flagged to the guy in 1st before you could even survey the board and consider possibilities for allies. Watching a player flag in round 2 with NOTHING and get protection from the guy in 1st because he "respects all flag" and then that weak player ends up in 2nd is DUMB. All of us can be whiny little point whores and beg every single game for placement.......but that is boring. So forgive me if I choose to kill a vFlag every once in awhile. Forgive me if I have to point out to the other 4 players at the table that an accepted vFlag IS A FUCKING TRUCE. Forgive me if I feel that this whiny, pansy-ass way of playing makes me sick and discourages me from playing as often and also discourages me from buying a membership. Forgive me if I feel that tourneys were the underlying cause for the flagfest that is KDice these days. |

at 2:19 PM, Tuesday September 22, 2009 EDT yeah, i see your point. i was just sort of weirded out because i thought later in the thread you were making a point that acknowledged that the system currently isnt ideal, but that people who whine about that should stfu or gtfo. now i see that you mean 'people who whine about it without adapting to it.'
i could go either way on this argument. its a free online game, so stfu or gtfo, sure, thats always a viable argument. but on the other hand, if everyone just kept adapting and continuing to play a game they dont enjoy as much... then eventually the game would warp to a point that no one is enjoying it as much, and it is not attracting as many newer players (and income) as it optimally could be. so in that case, i give a smug golf clap to the bitchers who have quit the game but stayed in the forums, because if it werent for their vainglory, well... actually fuck that. ive always been annoyed at XC. fuck him and his notion that he was ever one of the best. to clear things up, XC's good friend john was a great player. XC did the most he could to ride on johns ability and witticisms (as sam said he was chill to chat with in chatbox as well as click dice with on tables). XC thought that since he knew john in real life, that that meant he was automatically one of the best at kdice too, and a member of whatever elite community there was. bull. shit. although, i think its funny to watch yall in a pissing battle in the forums. for once its not me and XC comparing penis sizes. blah, what a lame day. fiero, you lose for creating all these lame topics today. unless Ryan opens a sandbox, then you win. |

at 7:46 PM, Tuesday September 22, 2009 EDT I'm sick of flagging. Surely people should only be allowed to flag by ticking the flag box. They shouldn't be declaring flag in chat before the system allows them to flag.

-- More on topic: I didn't notice a huge difference between the 'now' system and the previous system. Though, now that you mention it, I do see alot more v-flagging and alot less trucing or anything else. As for 'vag-play', I think it might be overhyped. You get games where someone with insane luck starts up connected and by round three has 8 stacks on his exteriors. But I don't find it to be common enough that you don't still get interesting games. And the danger of v-flags is, well, it's a social thing: the guy can be a lying sack of shit, so it's a risk you take by accepting it. Anyways, I'm just saying that I don't think the game is broken. If anything, I'd like to see the option to create your own rooms or special rooms (e.g., no chat, flag-out-only, teamplay, etc..). |
