You've done the World proud in showing that race and colour of skin dont matter to you any more. Lets hope that the rest of the World can follow your example.

at 5:05 PM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST I'm so happy for America, Obama is a beacon for the world and represents so much of how great America can be. Dramatic change without violence. I thought McCain's concession speech was his best of the campaign.

at 5:26 PM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST Agreed, Matt. McCain's concession was just about the classiest political speech I have ever heard. I just hope that Obama's desire to reach across the aisle to achieve solutions is legitimate and that McCain's pledge to assist him is too.

at 5:34 PM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST Congrats to Obama and his campaign, they knew how to buy their way into a higher voter turn out. At least I won't have to worry about paying my mortgage or buying gas anymore...........
On a serious note.........I was very impressed with both candidates speeches last night. McCain was gracious and supportive and Obama was ready to change the mind of everyone that voted against him. The scene in Chicago was pretty surreal and even I knew I was staring a historical moment in the face. The only thing I know is that the Democratic Party is in the spotlight now and they better come through. If the next 4 years suck with the House, Senate, and Executive branch all being Dem majority, the party will never live it down. Good luck Barry, your gonna need it. |

Get a grip people - both choices were bad and america made the worse one. At least hillary is not president - that would have been worse. And to the rest of the world, dont forget we can blow your ass up if you get out of line - so leave the big issues to us - ok you pussies*** ***note - I do not include russia or china in this group. at 6:54 PM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST Congrats Obama and also well done John McCain!!
(174 electoral votes and 46% of the popular vote for McCain is not as bad as it looks at first sight. Considering how the Bush administration ruined the reputation of the GOP, McCain did a good job minimizing the damage) --- George W Bush was the worst President the US ever had. I am still amazed how many US people still don't see that and bash Obama in order to distract from the mistakes Bush made. The Bush administration severely damaged the US economy and caused the present financial crisis by lowering the key interest rate to only 1% and messing up the tax system. --- It will be very difficult for Obama to fix these issues for which he was not responsible and there is also the danger that he will fail in doing so. However, I'm looking foward to finally see ...a better US environmental policy ...a better US foreign policy ...a better US healthcare policy |

at 7:09 PM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST Hes a great speaker and very charismatic. Granted I dont agree with Obama on most things, but he is my new president and i will stand behind him. That being said i hope He can either fix or disband welfare and medicair. It is seriously screwed up right now.

at 7:19 PM, Wednesday November 5, 2008 EST also what happened to the economy during Bush's presidency cant really be blamed on him and his administration. The US economy is largely autonomous from the US government. It is true that Government policy can effect the economy but this kind of collapse has to have some other outside stimulus. Now i'm not saying that Bush was a good president overall, but we have had worse. Really only the last 2-3 years of this last term have been bad.

at 1:43 PM, Thursday November 6, 2008 EST Yeah, I agree, that's also why the economy didn't play a role in the US election at all.
The economy was completely irrelevant, because the government doesn't have an influence on the economy anyway. I'm just wondering again under whose administration the key interest rate was lowered to 1%... It's the economy, stupid! |
