Not to mention the fact that once companies get a bit larger then yours, far more often then not they'll incorporate and be subject to Corporate Tax Code rather then individual tax code.

Tax or no tax...

I don't understand how people keep forgetting that the GOP people have ruined the American enonomy during the past 8 years and that they will continue with their policy which maybe worked in the 1960s/1970s.

8 years of entire failure and there are still people who want to reward them.

8 years of policy don't entirely ruin an economy. Even as a Liberal, I can't say that the economic failure rests entirely on Bush's economic policies. His policies haven't helped and fundamentally I disagree with much of the GOP methodology but it's far more complicated then just 8 years of bad policies that led to the current financial situation.

I didn't say that only the 8 Bush years were responsible for structural problems of the American economy...

Not the bursting of the dot.com bubble at least, but definitely the financial crisis which is even more severe.

The main problem is that the GOP neglects the principle of sustainability!

Meagles,

You're obviously much more versed in tax codes than I. Assume the following facts and tell me what Barry is offering to do:

$1.5mil GROSS PROFIT
Limited Liability Corporation
40 Employees
20 unequal shareholders

The president of my company is voting for McCain specifically due to this topic. So I can only assume it will

A) effect the companies income
B) effect his income or that of our shareholders

The $1.5million figure is gross profits prior to taxes. All other expenses have been taken into consideration in the figure.

We ARE IN the first stage of the worst economic depression since before most of your grandparents were born. Neither man as president can do any more than put lipstick on the pig.

We are just getting started on this merry-go-round of pain. I have never been in debt my entire life, so here I am ready to stand by patriotically to bail everyone else out after already seeing half my savings cut in half.

I am a single-issue voter. I demand that everyone on welfare NOT have cable television. Is that so much to ask?

My employer isn't an individual, so nobody is pocketing $1.5million. Even if the company doesn't get taxed more (which still hasn't been proven by anyone here), the shareholders and execs of the company will be taxed more under Obama's plan. This will again lead to all of THEM looking to earn more money to make up for lost income due to Obama's attempt to "spread the wealth". This could also lead to lost jobs for businesses (both small and large) across the country.

I'm simply not one to "reward" the poor and lower-middle class simply to get votes, which is what Barry is doing. This society has always been centered around entrepreneurship and individual success and Obama is going to do his best to take as much as possible away from the one's who have earned it, and give it to the one's that haven't earned it. Socializing this country isn't the way to go, and Obama will be taking step one in an attempt to get there.

THRAXLE,

Thanks for NOT commenting on a single point I made.

I have the feeling that you don't really care about the parties' policies and what stands behind them.
There is a party who had a very negative impact on the economy during the past 8 years and you still want to vote for them, because all you have in you head are taxes taxes taxes taxes taxes taxes....

My suggestion: go and vote for McCain and rename yourself in

TAXLE

UGB, I wasn't saying the shareholders and execs of my company aren't well to do, I simply said they weren't pulling in $1.5mil from this company. Perhaps I'm wrong about the company being taxed more, although nobody has given definitive proof of that yet. But at the very least, 2 execs and probably 4 shareholders will be taxed more under Obama's plan. (Not necessarily from earnings just in this company, but total income from all jobs and holdings) This increase at the top will likely lead to less or no hiring, smaller raises and smaller or no bonuses. So the increase will indirectly effect me one way or another.

From my conversations here and on other boards I'm still yet to have anyone try to convince me why I should cast a vote FOR Obama. UGB brings up the hope that the trickle up effect will work, but that is only hope.

Every time I bring up Obama's lack of experience someone throws Palin in my face (which isn't a bad prospect). But again, I'm not voting Palin to the office of President. I'd much rather the #2 exec have little experience than the #1.

Every time I bring up Obama's lack of military background (and by lack I mean the exact same amount as a newborn puppy) I end up hearing crickets chirp. Nobody responds to this comment and rightfully so. It scares the shit out of me that we could have a President with ZERO military experience command our armed forces in the midst of tense conflict in the Middle East.

Every time I bring up a dislike of Obama's tax policies I'm either ignored or told I'm wrong (although I never get a precise reasoning as to why I'm wrong). Taxing the individuals that already pay the bulk of the taxes in this country is not the way to stoke the economy. Obama is very good at selling his BS to the poor and middle class by giving them guarantees that he'll make your life better by taxing the rich and spreading the wealth. He's popular, I'll give him that. And it's become extremely hip to wear an Obama T-shirt and say your one of his supporters. The truth is that he's an enigma and is more likely than McCain to get this country in trouble and see jobs move offshore.

Like I said, I'm not particularly a McCain supporter, but I am an Obama opposer.

Moon, I wasn't ignoring you, I simply thought that meagles fairly placed the burden on someone other than GW or the GOP. It was the Republicans that pleaded for regulation of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae when they saw the writing on the wall 3-4 years ago, and the democrats were there opposing it at the top of their lungs. To try and blame Bush or the GOP for this crisis is shortsighted.
