Thoughts on a domless month

So tournies will definitely no have dom. The games play fine. But should this be something to consider for regular tables?
Is dom now irrelevent? A big negative of dom score is that it makes things really complicated. Another is that it doesn't reward well for comebacks. So, if there's not a compelling reason for it i think we should consider getting rid of it? Maybe just for a month to test it? The reason I think it's become less relevant is because of flagging for position. Dom was a tool to give less reward to players who "turtle" and get second. It would largely work because leading players won't attack non-aggresive players. But now, when other players flag they'll put their focus on the turtlers and there is much less chance they'll get a high position. So in effect, flagging for position makes the turtle strategy less effective, and that makes dom a little irrelevent. So what are you're thoughts? |

at 1:20 PM, Wednesday October 29, 2008 EDT Would it be possible to have two different types of games to choose from, 1)the buy-in (no dom) and 2)with the current dom based model? A sort of risk/reward system in that you play the dom based tables you have a lot more points to lose and gain as compared with playing the buy-in tables. Also, having played a couple dozen games this month where PGAers ruined the games, I can definitely see the buy-in system being fatally flawed by allowing an easy method for cheating.
