This is more directed to Ryan than anyone else, but I would also like peoples opinions and ideas to build upon my own.
Ryan this game could be so much more than it is, and I think you might know it. Kdice is for the most part original, and that means that you can go so far with it;the stars are the limit. Thus a few ideas I think you should consider: 1) sell merchandise (KDICE TEESHIRTS!) 2) Have 1-3 places get a teeshirt FREE, 4-25 get something smaller, and 1-100 get a award (basically a piece of fancy paper) -Why do this though? Wont that eat profits? - We all know that anything on the web can make a lot of money by hosting ads. Thus by giving awards you will attract more people, and thus get more money from adds. 3)Have a torny for the 12 Gold placers..to fight it out for the YEARLY CHAMP! (give a nice reward for winning it) The point is money has to be spent, and hard work put in to get the rewards. Also my friend the potential is there. |

at 11:02 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT I've been thinking about how tournaments would work on kdice for a while and I've never felt fully comfortable with knocking people out after one game. You should be allowed a bad game and still be in.
I like the idea of doing elimination based on points. Starting with 150 and having games ante increase. This means you can go up and down and if you make it to a later round you can catch up quickly. Also if you've won five games in a row you would have a lot of points and could probably lose a couple games. The problem with point based elimination is it may be longer tournaments (2-3 hours for the winners). This can probably be managed by how fast the ante increases. Think of the tourny as the month competition done in a couple hours - by the end you're playing 10k games and people are dropping quickly. |

so you could have a voluntary competition alongside the normal one...or is that not feasable! |

at 7:56 PM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT One way to set up a tourney would be have a hierarchy of powers of seven. The finals would have seven players, the semifinals 49 players, and so on.
At a given level of play, there are seven games on one table (for one hour per level) or 49 games on one table (if you want a whole day for a level). Each player is assigned, in random order, each place of start at a particular table. The initial placement of dice is the same for all games at that table. In the 7 game version, each player will get one chance to go first at that table with the given arrangement of dice. In the 49 game version, each player will get to go first one time with each of the seven colors with that arrangement of dice. This way the chance factor will be eliminated, except for restacks. |

at 6:53 AM, Friday December 3, 2010 EST or an extra end of the month slam where only players can enter that won a 500 or 2k tourney (if you won multiple, you get more starting points?)
another one can precede this tourney where all players that won a freeroll, friday 5, 100 or 250 tourney can enter. The top 5 for example gets some points but also advances to the big tourneywinner slam |
