This is more directed to Ryan than anyone else, but I would also like peoples opinions and ideas to build upon my own.
Ryan this game could be so much more than it is, and I think you might know it. Kdice is for the most part original, and that means that you can go so far with it;the stars are the limit. Thus a few ideas I think you should consider: 1) sell merchandise (KDICE TEESHIRTS!) 2) Have 1-3 places get a teeshirt FREE, 4-25 get something smaller, and 1-100 get a award (basically a piece of fancy paper) -Why do this though? Wont that eat profits? - We all know that anything on the web can make a lot of money by hosting ads. Thus by giving awards you will attract more people, and thus get more money from adds. 3)Have a torny for the 12 Gold placers..to fight it out for the YEARLY CHAMP! (give a nice reward for winning it) The point is money has to be spent, and hard work put in to get the rewards. Also my friend the potential is there. |

at 4:06 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT The problem with the league is to get the people together at the same time. So far everyone can sit whenever he feels like it and play. I am not sure people are dedicated enough to arrange their day around an allstar game (if it´s possible at all)

at 5:32 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT I usually find the early evenings (4 pm CET) the most entertaining time for kdice because then I can play the American players as well. I think this time period will be ideal to organise such matches. There might be a few asian players as well that would appreciate another time slot (so maybe evening in the US?).

teeshirts ... yearly champ ... "ZZZZZZZZZZZZ........" How about "Kdice live!", a real event, where you can see the Top-Players on stage fighting for glory. Meet the people, not the avatar. That would be fun / party / great PR ... ... and Sprint can sell lots of teeshirts at his stand in the waiting hall. |

at 9:55 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT since some of us here play golf, why not install a kRYDER-cup every 3 months?
I think us Europeans will be the underdog again but wasn't it 0 : 3 and even 1 : 5 in the last 3/6 cups ;-) |

at 10:09 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT At the moment I'm happy with kglory being the incentive for winning. However, Tshirts are a good idea. I know I would wear one and it would be waaay less nerdy than wearing a WoW tshirt. I've actually build a tshirt design with an 8 stack on the front and kdice in tiny letters. I think I would sell maybe 20-50 of these... not really worth it for profit but there's no reason not to just put them out there at cost.
As for multi table tournaments, they're very near the top of the feature list. An implementation for both GPokr and KDice. So the tournaments would be like poker tournaments. There would be a point buy in and big rewards for getting a top place. During the tournament you work off 150 points or something. If you drop to 0 you're out. The table ante grows with each game to speed things up. This also means games would be played with less than 7 people sometimes. I think the best way to do this is to leave the other players gray (instead of the dicewars method). Eventually you'd have a winner. I think watching these tournaments would be awesome. Leagues are on the feature list too however the site needs to be around 10x bigger for them to be relevant. |

at 10:11 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT I think doing some sort of bracketed tourny would be cool. Top 2 from table advance, or maybe just 1 to avoid potential problems.

at 10:28 AM, Wednesday June 18, 2008 EDT bracketed tourney would be awesome too. If you only let 1st pass to next round, wouldn't that give to much importance to luck? you can't always get 1st even if you are very good?
Maybe a tourney system as in judo might do the trick. you have a parallel tournament for the losers so they can still go for bronze. I am thinking something like: 1st goes through to next round. 2nd to 6th play a second match (maybe add a 7th player again?). 1st from that rematch goes through to next round too. |
