Table Limits (full explanation)

non member table limits are like this:

0 level : max 500
100 level : max 2500
500 level : max 10,000

member table limits are like this:

0 level : max 3000
100 level : max 5000
500 level : max 12,500

explanation : If you're a member things are a bit different. They're different because the 2500 max creates a bit of a problem for members, who get 2500 at the start of the month. They would only be able to sit at 100 or 500... so for members the limits are are raised by 2500 each.

Questions? Concerns? Comments?

Ryan, I assume you are referring to the table limits. I like the table limits ideas! I never suggested (or heard of) doing different levels for members vs non-members, though. That is new to me, and that was the part which I thought was odd to put in to place, and then ask for comments about if _after_ the change. It's your playground though, and I don't really mind changes that are done between months. I think it's better than things staying stagnant.

If you are referring to suggesting mods, I thought grun was a superb choice, recommended by lots of people. The sarcasm was in regards to a mod that was more consistently disrepected by the community.

Ryan,

I support the institution of table limits, but was unaware that there would be a different limit level for members/non-members. That the only reason for my comment in this thread. With a 2,500 point "head start" for the members, i can see that it might be a problem (once they win a few points of course) for them to play the 100s where games might be more frequent. But they can always sit in at 500 and 2500. I mean, as far as I understood, the limits were meant to encourage play on higher tables.

more consistently disrespected? i can only assume you mean Pat Whalen. in which case, you're almost correct... you have the general idea right, just switched the identities.

Pat was the consistently disrespected player who was gifted a monthly 1st. fiero600 was the consistently disrespected player who was gifted the mod.

Hopefully this clears things up for you Verms. gl and have fun!

I have just one word to say about the table limits: YAY!

@Verm: I've read the whole thread about mods again. You had 5 nominations, AMO and Bomb 3, habit, kdicefreak and jpc 2... and there were 13 players with 1 nomination. I haven“t seen any nomination or even a self nomination for fiero or grun.

Anyway, grun is doing a great job, I like how he is explaining his decisions. Dunno about fiero's job, so I can't say.

@Ryan: as I stated before, the table limits is a great idea and the community was asking for it, as we asked for country flags, friends list or mottos. So, good job.

table limits: I did talk about the member difference with table limits with some players at the top tables and this was our solution to the problem that would happen at the beginning of the month. It lets members play at the start but restricts them later on. Basically it just ignore's their 2500 bonus when checking table maximums - so in a sense it is treating them the same as non members (for example a member must have under 500 'earned' points to play a 0 table).

As far as mod selection go's I think its a very hard thing to do. It's definitely not a popularity contest so I ignored any nominations. In fact, being somewhat disconnected from the community can be seen as a bonus.

I have asked both grun and mocom at different points to take a mod action and both responded in a reasonable fashion. I haven't had to ask fiero yet, so I can't comment there.

I think the only specific complaints against the admins to this point were:
- The mutings of a couple players that no admin owned up to. (bad call; I think Ryan has addressed this, so it hopefully won't happen again.)
- Not enough admin interaction (good call; I think they should err on the side of taking too little action at first. If even they only catch the worst 1% at first, it's still an improvement and prevents false negatives.)
- One admin cursing a bunch after a loss (meh; happens. Was probably more a dig at that particular admin, since the cursing wasn't that awful.)

It was sort of odd, though, that the community was asked for their input on who should be a mod, and then three players (at least, may be more) who didn't receive any support got the nod, and none of the players who did were included.

yes, a little bit of sour grapes here, I suppose! :)

Good checking on that post, btw nuflis. I did not realize that Grun's name never came up. He seemed like such an obvious choice after the fact!

Oooh, I just cross-posted with Ryan. I should win something :)

Ryan, the table limit idea seems to be working out. I wasn't one of those you chatted with, though. I don't really play the high tables much these days, unless 500s count.

I do wonder why you asked for input on mods if you weren't planning on using it? I personally don't think it turned out to be a popularity contest (would I have won that? lol,) as several other players would have been nominated far more often than any of us who were. kissygirl, as just one example.

Oh, and thanks for clarifying, by the way. Your responding to posts like this really helps clear things up.

We all appreciate it when you have enough time to be more involved.
