Ryan, did you really censor 119Legend's new threads?

Or is it a technical issue?

In a responsibly moderated forum, censorship is a necessity of life. No purpose is served by allowing some moron to post 5 or 6 separate threads, all of which have different, supposedly worthwhile topics, while the actual post in all of them is simply "F*ck you, motherf*cka". As far as I am concerned, the correct response of the moderators or administrators is to ban the offending party.

Thank goodness we have crap-stacker to help us know what "responsibly moderated" and "worthwhile topics". I don't know what I'd do otherwise.

As far as I'm concerned, a responsible moderator would ban people like you. Well that's not true, even dumb asses like yourself shouldn't be censored.

There's only one thing you got wrong Skrumgaer, and I think it's important to get it straight right here, right now: I never graduated from Dicewars. I played twice, got smoked in the second round, and never played again. =P

Now seriously, very interesting player classification, I wish your thread was still available.

Going on about the cooperative aspects of the game, and considering it's impossible to keep it an individual game (simply because cooperation exists, ranging from somebody who knows you on the table being less likely to attack you, all the way to PGAs and multiaccounters), I wonder if there would be any way to implement some kind of "legalized" team play.

Has it been discussed before? Any thoughts?

'In time, books will be written on the strategy of kdice as they have been written on the strategy of Go. But not yet. Knowledge of kdice is obtained through hard work, and those who have worked for what they learned will not give away the fruits of their labor lightly. When there is a big enough market for books on kdice, the master strategies will be unveiled. ' ~skrumgaer

I highly doubt that books will be written on the current game-mechanics of kdice. Generally speaking, books about boardgames revolve around strategy. The game simply places too much emphasis on luck for any detailed strategic theory to be developed. The books on so called ‘master strategies’ won’t exist, as all the strategy that one needs to know is and will be freely accessible on the net. However, as I have limited experience in-game, I’m speaking from an uneducated perspective. But, realistically, will kdice become popular enough to emerge as a nice market? I don’t think so.

119Legend:

Thanks for your thoughtful reply to my post. In regard to kdice placing too much emphasis on luck, the counterexample to that hypothesis is that the same names tend to appear in the top 25 month after month. In regard to strategy freely available on the net, the titles of your now-missing posts are suggestive of such strategy. Did you get those titles from an existing work, or did you make them up yourself? Perhaps the person who should do the first comprehensive write-up of kdice strategy should be.....you!

Dora:

I'm sorry to hear that you flunked dicewars.

Seriously, some discussion of team play has occurred in previous months but (at least back then) Ryan was not in favor of it.

lol I made them myself. And yes, they did SEEM to be useful, but, once you click on them, the result is quite the contrary ;)

I'm stepping out of character :O
If you'll excuse me I'm working on getting banned.

first of all...

Fuck you muthafucka

This is art, this is graffiti, this is freedom of speech. If posts are taken down by the creators it is truly unfortunate.... but it only feeds the fires. It is going to bring the question of censorship up more and more until 119Legend gets his wish and gets kicked out... then where will the line be drawn.

My personal opinion is that Ryan does not have nearly the same amount of passion and focus on CENSORING as 119Legend has on making his point. And I think dealing with the censorship issue by ignoring it is alot simpler than trying to define and enforce it.

Hell, he is a programmer not a moral compass. I my opinion no one should be given the power of controlling the power of words and images.
