Ryan, did you really censor 119Legend's new threads?

Or is it a technical issue?

at 1:16 PM, Sunday October 21, 2007 EDT It would have been nice if even one of the threads had been the real mccoy....actual analysis of psychology, social relationships, or strategy. I checked every one of them, but alas, all had nothing.
In time, books will be written on the strategy of kdice as they have been written on the strategy of Go. But not yet. Knowledge of kdice is obtained through hard work, and those who have worked for what they learned will not give away the fruits of their labor lightly. When there is a big enough market for books on kdice, the master strategies will be unveiled. |

I am just a novice at Go. I played a few games against human opponents in college, and have played against a computer. Go has the same tension as kdice between consolidating strength in too small an area in a corner versus expanding too fast into the cente. |

at 5:36 PM, Sunday October 21, 2007 EDT Hey, do you really want some insight into game strategy? You might find it depressing as I did, because you'll realise that kdice is a purely social game, where random factors and player interaction is so determinating, that it's impossible to succeed playing alone, no matter your playing skill (other than social skills).
I've seen really top players play. And they have a lot of friends: in fact they are so popular that... they never play alone! I don't think that's cheating -- the other player surely benefits from cooperating with a high ranked, skillful player. It's natural selection -- in a social game, social skills are the most important. This happens at all levels, in fact most of the time I come across a player from my region they offer to cooperate, or at least it's more unlikely they'll attack me. Social game. Which is unfortunate for those of us who are not charismatic enough or don't have great social skills or find that aspect boring. There's little point discussing strategy or probabilities, because anyone can figure them out in a week. The important skills and strategies people should study are the social ones. Otherwise, play dicewars. :) |

at 10:21 PM, Sunday October 21, 2007 EDT Many aeons ago, before Dora Exploradora had graduated from dicewars to kdice, I posted a thread called "denizens of the kdice desert", in which I identifed at least four "species" of kdice players, identifiable by their profiles. To reiterate briefly, the four species are
1. the sphinx, having a profile with the highest percentage at first place, the next highest at second place, and so on. 2. the hyena, having the highest percentage at second place. 3. the dromedary, having more first and third places than second places, and 4. the horse, having high numbers for first and seventh place, not so high for second and sixth, etc., and lowest for fourth. All of these species appear in the top 25, and likely occupy different "niches" in the kdice ecology. In a typical game, there are likely to be players of all species, who interact with each other as animals of different species interact around a watering hole on the African veldt. So knowing how the different species behave and using that knowledge to your advantage is not something new. Likewise with knowing the traits of particular individuals. Nothing different here than chess or Go, except that in kdice you deal with six players at a time. Welcome to kdice, Dora. |

at 10:37 PM, Sunday October 21, 2007 EDT You are missing the point. This not a thread of kdice-psychology. This is a thread of censorship....and of betrayal in it's highest form.
I viewed Ryan as the benevolent all powerful craps player in the sky. Sure once in a while he'd change the rules on me, but they were for my own good. At first I'd have to learn the new system, like a baby learning to walk...again...but it was always so I could grow as a dice gambler. It could be that Ryan's censhorship of 119Legend is also for my own good....yet I don't get it. Why can't I read what 119Legend wrote? Is it kdice-blasphemy? Ryan do you fear a rebellion? It's madness. I feeled betrayed. Everything is going to hell! Why Ryan? Why Ryan? Why Ryan? Why Ryan? Why Ryan? Why Ryan? BTW, I was a sphinx, but now I'm turning into a dromedary horse. |
