i was having a little discussion about this with some other players. someone attacked while he was flagged, I said this wasn't very honourable, someone else disagreed :p
So what does flagging mean to you? -Do you surrender to the biggest guy, but still attack others to secure your position? -Does it mean you stop fighting completely, being happy with the lands you have, waiting until the game is over, and in return want others to stop attacking you aswell? -does it mean you'll keep on fighting as if your flag wasn't there, playing until everyone is dead/flagged? -Does it mean you'll sit there, making others believe you are harmless, then when you maxed out your reserves, suddenly attack multiple times and take the lead? -... If you'll all post what you think flagging means, maybe we can come up with a definite meaning for it, kind of like a Geneva convention for Kdice :p |

at 6:50 PM, Saturday June 9, 2007 EDT hmmm. we had this great discussion about this topic some weeks ago. Now there are some people
who think that there is a fixed regulation abot this. But: No! There isn´t a fixed regulation! Flagging has got different meanings in different situations. If you´re not sure what it will mean, ask for it! So... sometimes I flag, but I don´t stop fighting. It´s a offer to the other players to finish the game quikly, like under the help button, but it will certainly not mean that I stop fighting for a better placement! And another situation I thought about: If I flag at a certain point, ´cause I´m sure that I can´t win this game and I really stop fighting in this case, I can´t wait FOREVER, while the two TOP-Players are still fighting for 1st placement endless. In this case my DOM sucks, and so I start to attack each other at a certain point. Then it depends on the situation, if I will restart fighting to win this game, or to support one of the two players or if I kamikaze and attack both of them. But it´s not fair to suck someone others dom so long... |

at 7:37 PM, Saturday June 9, 2007 EDT To analyze the flag problem, look at the incentives of the non-flagger. If you are not the leader, and are the lone non-flagger, one of two incentives exist.
1. You think that you can improve your score if you keep fighting. 2. You are unaware that you are the only one who has not flagged. No. 2 has happened to me plenty of times because in the heat of the action I may not be looking to see what flags are up. If people start attacking me for no reason that gives me a hint to look for the flags. So if there is one non-flagger, it might be good to tell that player that he is the only non-flagger left. Then, if that player keeps fighting, we know it is Incentive No. 1. If it has been established that Incentive No. 1 is in effect for the non-flagger, the flag contract failed and whether you are flagged are not is immaterial, either for offense or defense. |
